Gojira North American Tour With Korn Features Houston-area Show

After a controversial performance at the Paris Olympics, Gojira isn't slowing down anytime soon. The heavy metal band will be performing as a special guest in Korn's North American Tour, set to kick off Sept. 12 and make a stop in The Woodlands this October.

"Gojira didn't sacrifice their sound, their integrity or their heaviness for the Olympics," wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter. "Instead performed true to everything that makes the band so great, which is playing f—g metal. Truly one of the most historic moments in metal history."

Gojira made history as the first hard rock act to perform during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The four-member band did a version of "Ah! Ça Ira"— a notably popular song during the French Revolution.

REPRESENTING TEXAS: Kassidy Cook has wanted to dive in the 'Bolympics' since age 3. Now she has a silver medal in Paris

Gojira will perform at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Oct. 20. For more information, visit Gojira Music.

What To Know About Chiggers Bites, Symptoms And Treatment

Dr. Stephanie Lareau whizzed through the trees on her mountain bike in Roanoke, Va., one day in 2018. When she wanted to stop for water and a snack, she didn't think much of plunking down in a pile of leaves near a reservoir to rest.

The next day, Dr. Lareau found a cluster of red bumps along the waistband of her shorts. Her back started to itch intensely.

Chiggers are common in humid regions, like Southern and Midwestern states. Chiggers inhabit grasses, decaying leaf matter and low shrubs near bodies of water. Historically, chigger season in the United States has been from late spring to early fall. But this period is likely to expand as temperatures rise across the country, said Loganathan Ponnusamy, a principal research scholar in the department of entomology and plant pathology at North Carolina State University. He said that scientists in North Carolina were finding chiggers earlier compared with previous years.

After chiggers hatch, the larvae can cling to clothing or skin. Once on the skin, they secrete an enzyme to digest skin cells, said Dr. Avinash Patil, an associate professor of emergency medicine at Stanford University who is trained in wilderness medicine. The enzyme causes an immune response that can lead to skin irritation, itchiness and red bumps.

Hot spots for bites include folds of skin near tight clothing such as waistbands, the top of sock lines and the area behind the knees. (If you see red bites clustered around your waistband, you can assume they're from chiggers rather than mosquitoes or other bugs, Dr. Lareau said.)

The larvae feed on human skin cells for a few days before falling off, Dr. Patil said. People may not realize they've been bitten until their bodies mount an inflammatory reaction. "By the time you're itching, presumably, the chiggers are off," he said. Peak itchiness often occurs 24 to 48 hours after a bite.

If you do get bitten, you can expect to be itchy for up to three weeks. Cold compresses can help with inflammation. Experts warned against excessive scratching to reduce chances of bleeding, scarring or secondary infection.

American Idol Winner Abi Carter Performs At Acrisure Arena

Yet there she stood, one of two finalists, moments from the finish line. The crowd fell silent as host Ryan Seacrest uttered the words that changed everything : "After the nationwide, live coast-to-coast vote, the winner of American Idol 2024 is … Abi Carter!"

Born and raised in Indio, Carter has always had a passion for music and singing. She got her start performing at Palm Springs VillageFest , and on Saturday, July 27, the powerhouse winner of American Idol Season 22 will host her first major concert at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert.

We spoke with Carter, who turns 22 on July 31, about her musical taste, her experience on American Idol , and some of her favorite hometown memories.

Carter wowed the American Idol judges with this song during the Top 8 episode. This was a notable performance as many felt it was the moment she broke through her shell. "You just kicked down all four walls of the box I thought you were in," judge Katy Perry said after the performance.

"I got the best piece of advice from Lionel Richie. He told me that I was going to be surrounded by a lot of different people, doing a lot of different things, and they were going to be amazing, but different from me, and that I might want to change myself to be more like them. He told me not to do that. So, thank you Lionel."

As of press time, Carter has released three singles: "It's All Love", "This Isn't Over", and "Peppermint Sky." She is poised to debut several new, original songs July 27 at her Acrisure Arena show.

"I found myself falling in love all over again with so many of the songs in rehearsal for this show," Carter says, hinting at a debut album she plans to drop this fall. "It only makes me more excited to release them someday soon."

What Is The Optimal Amount Of Exercise And How Much Is Too Much?

Firstly, these studies show a dose-related effect of exercise, with the health benefits kicking in at even low levels of activity. For instance, a 2022 study that followed more than 400,000 US adults over nearly two decades found that 1 hour of aerobic exercise per week was associated with a 10 to 20 per cent lower risk of dying during the study period (see ⁘Health boosts⁘ chart, below).

The good news for sedentary types is that the biggest gains come from changing from doing nothing to doing something. And the health benefits for people aged over 60 seem to be stronger than for adults below this age, for a given amount of exertion.

We can also look into the impact of different intensities of physical activity . Moderately intense activities are things that significantly raise your heart rate, such as brisk walking or playing a fun game of badminton, where you can still talk but not sing. Activities that make you out⁘

American Idol⁘ Stars Perform In The Dark After Lighting Strikes Power Outage At Nashville...

Competing on American Idol requires the ability to roll with the punches. Jack Blocker certainly learned this when he was sent to Hollywood by the grace of the Idol crew (and Luke Bryan.) But the 25-year-old Dallas, Texas native was undaunted, blazing a trail to finale night before finishing in third place. So when the venue lost power during a recent show, Blocker and fellow season 22 finalist McKenna Breinholt knew just what to do.

It was an American Idol reunion at Saturday's (July 20) Franklin Summer Bash. Jack Blocker and McKenna Breinholt joined fellow season 22 Top 10 finalists Kaibrienne Richins, Mia Matthews, and Kayko at Liberty Hall just south of Nashville .

Richins, Matthews, and Kayko completed their sets without incident. However, Breinholt was in the middle of her final song, Hillsong's ⁘Oceans,⁘ when lightning struck a nearby transformer. Liberty Hall plunged into darkness—but Breinholt didn't stop singing. In fact, she wrote on Instagram that the crowd took up an a capella version after her microphone went out.

⁘All I can say is that I believe that was divine intervention and the spirit filled the entire room while we all praised the Lord in unison and in harmony,⁘ wrote Breinholt, who finished in seventh place. ⁘Forever grateful I can keep this memory with me forever. I love you Franklin!!⁘

Next, Jack Blocker took the stage to close out the night. The singer-songwriter reprised his Top 8 performance of Willie Nelson's ⁘Always On My Mind,⁘ this time with only the lights of a few hundred cell phones to guide his way.

You don't go through an emotional rollercoaster like American Idol auditions without forming a few bonds. Those bonds were on full display in the comments section of McKenna Breinholt's Instagram post.

Promote And Track Your Next Release With Song Contest Prize Partner Play MPE

American Songwriter's prize partner Play MPE has expanded the prizes for the 2024 Song Contest to include MTR radio tracking with each International Music Promotion Package! The Grand Prize winner will receive a comprehensive promotion package (for an album) to distribute a promotional release to radio, media, industry VIPs, curators, bloggers, and music supervisors. The package includes three (3) promotional sends with Caster , and unlimited secure hosting in Player . The release will also get three (3) months of MTR radio tracking, which currently monitors 5000+ radio stations across North America.

When music is promoted with the same tool music industry professionals use, it means your release will be seen in the same library (and context), as releases from major labels, subsidiaries, top independent labels, and professional promoters. Long-standing clients include Universal Music Group, Warner Music, Sony Entertainment, BMG, Big Machine, [PIAS], Curb | Word, Broken Bow, Sub Pop, Epitaph, Criteria, The Orchard, and many more. Play MPE has spread by industry experts relying on the platform for their promotional needs and for the use of their robust industry contact lists. Peer testimonials speak to their success with Play MPE . However, the Vancouver, BC, Canada based music tech company is passionate about making the business of music promotion not only efficient and secure, but also accessible to artists, promoters and labels of every level.

Playlist placements, sync licensing and TikTok virality are heavily sought after, yet coveted editorial playlists are typically dominated by top artists on major labels. Even with film ⁘ TV streaming platforms abounding, sync placements are increasingly harder to land simply due to saturation. These days every artist is savvy about licensing and music supervisors are swimming in potential cues. Becoming TikTok famous is also not as "paint by numbers" as it once seemed, and even when achieved, can be cumbersome to maintain, and often fleeting. Additionally, not every songwriter or artist is necessarily cut out for that type of self promotion, or even comfortable with it. There are many artists who simply want to make art and promote it in more traditional ways. Can you relate? If you want to build a solid fanbase with staying power, radio should be a part of a well rounded music marketing plan.

Meet The Startups That Earned Investments At T.D. Jakes⁘ Shark Tank-style Competition - D CEO...

At T.D. Jakes' second annual Good Soil Forum, which featured a seed capital pitch competition kin to Shark Tank, the underlying idea that brought more than 2,000 entrepreneurs into one room was the desire to grow. The first event was held in Orlando last year. But according to T.D. Jakes Enterprises COO Michael Phillips, Dallas, too, has rich soil filled with shining entrepreneurs that deserve a chance to receive the spotlight. And that spotlight was a chance to compete for $500,000 of seed money—double what the organization and its partner Wells Fargo granted to Orlando-based entrepreneurs.

Each entrepreneur was given five minutes to pitch their company and how they'd use the funding to a panel of judges.

Olaiya, a personal trainer and the founder of Good News Fitness , has become one of the fastest-growing health and human performance enhancement businesses in Washington D.C. With a master's in performance enhancement and injury prevention, he uses his skillset to create a personalized experience for his clients.

"There are unique struggles and unique challenges that Black leaders face in corporate America,⁘ Phillips said. ⁘There's a certain freedom that Black people have within entrepreneurship, but there's also the same challenges there, as well. As an entrepreneur, you may not have that guaranteed paycheck coming every two weeks, but you do have the finances, you do have the freedom of your time to go out and try to build as much equity and, wealth as possible. DEI programs and initiatives are starting to be removed from different corporate landscapes and sectors across the board. No one's coming to save us, we have to really provide platforms and resources to help save ourselves."

The event, which was three days long and much more than the pitch competition, featured the likes of Tabitha Brown, Warren Luckett, Jay Barnett, Leon Howard, and more influential figures in business. The event was filled with educational sessions about the upside of entrepreneurship, but also the barriers POC communities face in breaking out on their own. Topics centered around building wealth, having the right credit, and maintaining trust in your own business.

Why Khloe Kardashian Refuses To Go To Therapy

In the Thursday, July 18 episode of Hulu 's The Kardashians , the mother-of-two explains her distaste for therapy, and it has everything to do with poor experiences in the past. Kim Kardashian , 43, was the first person in the episode to suggest Khlo⁘ look into therapy , because she is currently doing it, and thinks her sister should "also be on this journey" with her.

Then, while the pair were enjoying lunch, Khlo⁘'s longtime friend Malika Haqq, 41, brought up the idea as well. They were talking about Khlo⁘'s 40th birthday, which had not yet happened at the time of filming, and Haqq wanted to find a "really big" way for them to celebrate.

The Good American founder immediately shot down that idea, calling it a "disaster," while Haqq reasoned, "It's indirect therapy. It's like the kind of therapy you want to do." Khlo⁘ asked if her friend thought she needed therapy, to which she replied, "A hundred percent." The answer seemed to surprise Khlo⁘, who shared how Kim had recently made a similar suggestion.

Khlo⁘ said that because she doesn't get visibly upset when speaking about her trauma, therapists have told her that she doesn't need their help.

According to Khlo⁘, one counselor told her, "I don't really think you need me," which made her think, "Is she firing me? I think I got broken up with by a therapist." She later explained in a confessional, "I'm sure I need therapy. I just don't think I'm struggling." Haqq, however, pointed out that the reality star has "gone through several traumatic events" and needs "someone to tell you how to see your way out."

Khlo⁘ continued to try to shrug it off, saying she doesn't have time to talk to a bunch of different therapists until she finds the right one. However, like Kim, Haqq was not backing off, quipping, "Make the time."

Dancing On Ice Star Teases Return To Show After Early Exit Due To Brutal Injury

Greg Rutherford has teased that he could return for the next series of Dancing On Ice after having withdrawn from the final after sustaining an injury hours beforehand.

The former Olympic athlete, 37, competed on the ITV show earlier this year. He was partnered with professional figure skater Vanessa James, 36, and they made it through to the final together, though Greg didn't get to perform in it.

He spoke about the experience and teased his potential return for whilst on Lorraine on Wednesday. He shared: ⁘Look, it's been sort of early stage discussed whether or not I come back and do one skate maybe on the opening show [next series]. I don't know whether or not it will happen. Of course, we have to make sure Vanessa definitely comes back. So I don't know if that's happening yet.⁘

Greg further commented: ⁘I loved [being involved]. And d'you know what? Yeah, I'd love to give it another go.⁘ Asked if he would be ⁘scared⁘ by host Lorraine Kelly, he replied: ⁘No. [...] I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.⁘

And discussing the injury in the interview, he said: ⁘I'm a lot better, thank you. It's one of them things - I had to have surgery to repair the injury, so I had the pretty nasty hernias form and I also detached my lower left ab. Less than ideal.⁘

Speaking to Lorraine, he suggested that the injury was sustained when he dived through the legs of two skaters on Dancing on Ice whilst rehearsing a routine. ⁘I couldn't move [after]. It was one of the most bizarre things. I think because it was all in the stomach and you realise how much you use your stomach when it's damaged,⁘ he said.

It was announced just hours before the final in March that Greg - who had already sustained a groin injury earlier in the series -wouldn't be competing. His skating partner Vanessa shared the news with fans initially on Instagram .

Gilbert Company's 'Shark Tank' Appearance Leads To Major Home Depot Deal

When Gilbert-based Slick Barrier appeared on ABC-TV's "Shark Tank" in 2023, the company landed a $500,000 investment from entrepreneur Lori Greiner after pitching its patented clear coating designed to keep crawling pests — including those nasty Arizona bark scorpions — out of homes and businesses.

The company's "Shark Tank" appearance also caught Home Depot 's attention, leading to a major distribution deal with the home improvement retail giant, which is now selling Slick Barrier's scorpion-repelling product in more than 187 stores in Arizona and Texas.

"About two months after the show, Home Depot reached out to us. People were asking about the product and [Home Depot] wanted to see if they could carry it," Aaron Gonzales, co-founder of Slick Barrier, told AZ Inno. "They had us work with one of their current vendors to help us get it ready and distribute it to their stores."

Bianca Censori Wears Tiny Bikini Top To Lunch With Kanye West

Kanye West and Bianca Censori are dressed for the hot summer weather ... 'cause she settled on a tiny metallic bikini covering just the bare minimum of her boobs!

The rapper and his wife hit up Bludso's BBQ in Los Angeles Saturday ... and, ya gotta check out the pics 'cause BC's top's putting in some hard work to contain her chest.

Bianca's bikini's really only covering her nipples, quite frankly ... and, her spandex short bottoms ain't hiding much downstairs either.

She's got a hat pulled over her eyes, seemingly to keep a low profile -- unclear how much that helped given her outfit.

The two also checked out a movie together later on in the evening ... apparently watching "A Quiet Place: Day One" -- though the appearance of the stars probably caused a bit of noise in the theater when they arrived, you'd imagine.

Graziano Di Prima To Leave Strictly Come Dancing

In a statement on Instagram, he said he ⁘deeply regrets⁘ the events leading up to his departure and acknowledged that his ⁘intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime⁘.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed that Di Prima was ⁘no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series⁘.

⁘While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established a robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate," they said.

He remained part of the show for the following two years, though did not have a celebrity partner, then in 2021 danced with comedian and Loose Women host Judi Love.

He returned in 2022 and was paired with actress Kym Marsh, with whom he reached the quarter finals, and last year danced with TV presenter Zara McDermott.

Away from Strictly, Di Prima has competed in numerous international dance competitions and toured globally with dance company Burn The Floor.

⁘While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can't discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends,⁘ he said.

"I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future. I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story."

The episode is not the first time Strictly - which is among the most watched shows in the BBC line-up - has faced a complaint about the practices of one of its professional dancers.

Here's How 6 Months Of Exercise Can Help Your Brain

Research has repeatedly found that having a regular exercise routine can do your health a solid. But a new study found it may help boost your brain health for years to come.

From there, they were followed for five years. The researchers discovered that the participants got a boost in cognition —that is, mental processes in the brain like thinking, attention, language, learning, memory, and perception—from the exercise. And, the effects stuck around for five years.

⁘Six months of high-intensity interval training is enough to flick the switch,⁘ study co-author Perry Bartlett , a professor emeritus at the University of Queensland, said in a statement .

The researchers also found that exercise increased the production of neurons in the hippocampus, an area of the brain that's involved in memory, learning, and emotion. As a result, it improved cognition.

⁘Exercise-based interventions can provide significant protection against hippocampal cognitive decline in the aged population,⁘ the researchers concluded in the study.

The researchers are hoping that their findings will help doctors create meaningful exercise plans for older adults.

"Our finding can inform exercise guidelines for older people and further research could assess different types of exercise that could be incorporated into aged care," Daniel Blackmore , PhD, a research fellow at the University of Queensland's Queensland Brain Institute, said in a statement .

Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary Gives Stark Warning About Housing Market In These Three States | Daily Mail...

Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary has singled out the three states where homeowners are reluctant to sell their properties.

Those in  Texas , Florida , and Tennessee  are currently enjoying low mortgage rates and would likely double their payments if they moved to another state.

Over the last two years, the U.S. Federal Reserve 's hiked interest rates in an effort to curb inflation .

Homeowners in Texas , Florida , and Tennessee have become reluctant to sell their properties because they're on low mortgage rates and don't want to borrow at current far higher rates. Pictured, South Beach, Miami, Florida

Homeowners that were locked in lower mortgage rates are deterred from selling and facing new loans at over 7 percent interest, investor and Shark Tank personality Kevin O'Leary said

'So you've got an artificially low number of existing housing units not coming on the market. That's particularly evident in Florida, Texas, Tennessee and other markets.'

Bella Hadid Just Wore Booty Shorts ⁘ A

Unlike the daring and unconventional styles other A-listers gravitated towards, the supermodel returned to basics in old-school Daisy Dukes and minimal coverage bikinis. Spoiler alert: her looks were just as stylish.

As one of fashion's leading supermodels, Hadid has been the face of countless campaigns and has strutted down the catwalks of nearly all designers. She still, however, gets excited about her projects.

On Thursday, July 11, Hadid was spotted in New York to witness the unveiling of her new Adidas billboard. Commemorating the moment on main, she wrote: "Lucky to still be able to have these kind of pinch me moments."

To mark the occasion, the Orebella founder leaned into a sporty/casual vibe. She rocked a vintage-style sweatshirt from the sportswear giant in red and white. Balancing the oversized fit, Hadid tucked it into raw-hemmed booty shorts cinched with a black belt.

She matched her top to her shoes like a pro and wore bright sneakers, one of the biggest shoe trends of the year . Her choice? A pair of red and orange SL 72 OGs. Though her exact style isn't sold yet, similar pairs retail for $100 .

Just a day earlier, on Wednesday, Hadid enjoyed downtime in another cheeky ensemble: a thong bikini. While posing in a grassy area, the supermodel wore a matching swim set with an underwire bra top and slinky bottoms. Even with the cheeky coverage, Hadid pulled her thong high up her hips to give it a high-cut silhouette.

Hadid's bikini is from Gooseberry Intimates, a celeb-approved brand beloved by the likes of Sydney Sweeney , Kendall Jenner , and Jennifer Lopez .

While her exact fiery colorway is currently sold out, the set is still shoppable in different hues, including a rusty coral. The top retails for $55 , while the thong sells for $45 .

⁘Love Island USA⁘ Executive Producer Talks About Season Six

It⁘s summertime, which means a group of gorgeous twentysomethings have taken over a kitschy villa in Fiji in an attempt to find love ⁘ or win a $100,000 cash prize ⁘ on Love Island USA . Since it first hit television screens back in 2015, Love Island U.K. has been the reigning favorite amongst fans in the Love Island universe, which includes iterations in the U.K., U.S., and Australia, as well as Love Island Games , which is a spin-off combining cast members from all of the different shows. But the cast members on Season Six of Love Island USA , who are all currently being filmed around the clock in real time for the world to see as the show streams on Peacock, have catapulted the series into appointment viewing. About 400 people, from camera operators to producers and post-production editors, work behind the scenes to turn the show⁘s 24 hours of daily footage into can⁘t-miss TV, taking over an entire resort near the Islanders⁘ villa. The resort⁘s reception hall serves as the show⁘s control room where there⁘s 24-hour surveillance of the Islanders⁘ shenanigans, with producers and editors deciding in real time what they want to include in the next day⁘s episode.

American Idol's Garrett Jacobs Engaged To Singer Callista Clark (Exclusive)

The ⁘It's Cause I Am⁘ singer and the 'American Idol' alum have been quietly dating for the last three years

"We wanted to be very intentional and keep our relationship private," explains Clark in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. "When we got to the point where we wanted to announce that we were engaged, we wanted that to be the first time people knew that we were officially dating the whole time."

In November of 2021, the longtime friends went out on their first official date together. "I was playing the Grand Ole Opry and I invited him to come backstage with me," remembers Clark. "We went to the movies after that. So that was our first date."

"I followed (Jacobs) actually when he was on American Idol , and my whole family are huge American Idol fans," Clark remembers. "I followed him because I thought he was cute."

It was five years ago when the couple met for the first time, and immediately went into a songwriting session together. From there, the two often found themselves performing together during the pandemic on their respective social media channels.

The couple's families came together last month to celebrate the pair who ultimately got engaged amidst the Tennessee countryside.

Poses Topless In Cheeky Bikini Bottoms In Summer Snap

With the temperatures soaring and the sun shining bright, the What About Love star is taking the concept of naked dressing quite literally.

On July 10, the award-winning actress, 66, took to Instagram with a phot o of her posing topless and wearing nothing but a necklace and turquoise bikini bottoms with string ties on the waist.

"Sometimes I just have to go from pool to painting," she captioned the picture, which shows her finger painting a piece of work splashed in bold colors as she faces away from the camera.

This wouldn't be the first time Stone has shared an outfit-of-the-day snap of the sort on social media. Over the years, she's posed in plenty of sexy bathing suits.

In June 2021, she soaked up the sun in a yellow two-piece consisting of a scoop-neck top and mid-rise briefs — and she shared an Instagram post to prove it.

She did the same thing two years later when she uploaded a mirror selfie of herself rocking a green leopard-print bikini — featuring a plunging top and high-rise bottoms — that she captioned, "Ready for summer."

Several of Stone's famous friends gave her a shoutout in the comments. "#summergoals," wrote Tiffani Thiessen . Brooke Burke wrote, "Yaaaaasssss queen. I don't think you've ever been more sensual."

It's also no surprise that Stone is spending the dog days of summer getting creative with her artistry.

In March 2023, the mom of three opened up to The Art Newspaper about her love for painting ahead of the opening of her first solo gallery exhibition, "Shedding."

Exercise Delay Diabetes Diagnosis, Long-term Health Better

Those who delayed the onset of diabetes by four years through lifestyle changes had better long-term health

TUESDAY, July 9, 2024 (HealthDay News) -- Prediabetes can be successfully fought through diet and exercise, a new study shows.

Prediabetes -- also known as impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) -- involves blood sugar levels that are higher than normal, but haven't reached the levels associated with full-blown diabetes.

For the study, researchers tracked the health of 540 people with prediabetes who participated in an earlier six-year clinical trial.

In the trial, prediabetic people were assigned to one of four groups – one that followed a healthy diet; one that got more exercise; one that both ate well and exercised; and a control group.

After more than 30 years of follow-up, researchers found that people who didn't lapse into diabetes for at least four years after their diagnosis with prediabetes had a significantly lower risk of dying or experiencing a heart health event like a heart attack or stroke.

New Documentary About Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Exposes Contradictions For Young Women - The New York...

When the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders sashay onto the field, hair flying and pompoms fluttering, the stands erupt in thunderous roars. Fans know they're about to witness a spectacle every bit as thrilling and athletic as the football game they've been watching.

Like the pro team they represent, the cheerleaders are elite athletes at the top of their profession, enduring grueling hours of training and pushing through pain and injuries. Like the players, they make promotional appearances, sign autographs, participate in photo shoots and do community outreach.

The D.C.C. have been bringing the sizzle to Cowboys games for over 50 years. "America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders," a new Netflix series, follows a recent class of dancers, as well as their director, Kelli Finglass , and head choreographer, Judy Trammell, (both D.C.C. alumnae) through one complete season, from the arduous auditions — in which 500 women vie for 36 spots — to the final game.

Charismatic cheerleaders make for bingeable entertainment. In fact, the D.C.C. have already starred in an earlier series, CMT's "Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team," which ran from 2006 to 2022. While that show focused mostly on performance and auditions, this new one, directed by Greg Whiteley, looks a little deeper, hinting at some of the illogic and injustice lurking beneath the glossy surface.

As both shows make clear, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders maintain near military-levels of discipline, in part because their rigorous, acrobatic, and precisely choreographed routines require it. But beyond all the physical discipline, the D.C.C. must also practice a kind of aesthetic discipline. D.C.C. membership requires meticulous grooming. We watch dancers curling their hair and putting on makeup. We follow new recruits as they undergo (sometimes dramatic) salon makeovers. And we watch them being watched, especially by Ms. Finglass, who scrutinizes the women's images — in photos, videos and blown up to massive proportion on the stadium's Jumbotron — critiquing everything from muscle tone to mascara placement.

Are You Ever Too Old For A Bikini?

Last year, not long after she turned 50, Gabrielle Union-Wade talked to the "Who What Wear podcast" about criticism she had received on Instagram about posting lots of photos of herself in a bikini.

Later, discussing how women becoming invisible in Hollywood after age 35, she added, "We need to boldly take up space and boldly claim and acknowledge our own beauty in all that we do, instead of waiting."

There is nothing more effective for confronting those around you with the reality of your self at any age — and all the prejudices and subconscious biases about women and age — than a bikini.

That's why the question of "to bikini or not to bikini" is one thing if you're at home, say, or at a friend's pool and an entirely different one if you are at a beach or public event. And these days the question is really about psychology and sociology rather than physique.

At a public pool (or beach or beach club) — and as with short skirts , which I wrote about a few weeks ago — forcing such a confrontation is not without effect. In that case, the decision to go there is more complicated than merely, Do I feel good in this suit?

Then the question is more like: Will I feel good in this suit, and am I ready to deal with the unspoken judgments that will ensue?

Whether we like it or not, and whether it's right on not, we are constantly being assessed by what we wear: in the workplace, on the beach, on the street. That's why "street style" exists.

Inside The Celebration Of Mr. Irrelevant, New York Jets Rookie Jaylen Key

Key, dressed in suit and tie, stood at the front of a yacht, surrounded by cheerleaders in Jets garb. The boat moved through the marina, in the wake of a police escort blasting its siren. Flanking it were two jet skis, the drivers holding New York Jets flags aloft.

He waved to passersby, and tried his best to hold a smile. Key wants to be a recognizable face in the NFL , but this sort of attention makes him a bit uncomfortable. He played college football for a year at Alabama but wasn't exactly famous, even in football-mad Tuscaloosa. He's an NFL player, but almost nobody outside the Jets' suburban New Jersey facility would recognize him on the street.

Here in Newport, though, he was the man of the hour. The man of the week, to be exact. On a recent Tuesday evening, hundreds of adoring supporters cheered for him as he stepped off the boat, "Benny and the Jets" blaring. A silly tone to start a silly week. Everyone was there — at The Cannery restaurant — to see him, talk about him, talk to him, and roast him. This was only the beginning, a whole week dedicated to him, all because the Jets decided to pick him 257th overall in April, the last pick of the NFL Draft, the 49th-ever Mr. Irrelevant.

"One of our goals," said Melanie Salata Fitch, CEO of Irrelevant Week, "is to try and have him feel as if he's a celebrity, to make him feel welcome."

Key does not lack confidence, even if he's quiet when eyes are on him. He's quiet when they aren't too. But the Mr. Irrelevant celebration crew helped to crack away at his shell. If his smiles were forced on Tuesday, by Friday they were real.

This wasn't Key's first trip to Los Angeles, but it was his first time in Los Angeles traffic. The last time he was here, for the Rose Bowl in January, the players got police escorts to the stadium.

Bombshells On The Way': Chaos Unfolds As Fan Favourite Star Exits Reality Show - Hindustan...

Earlier today, reports surfaced claiming that a beloved contestant would be sacrificing their post in the reality TV competition following the eviction of their partner during the show's Movie Night.

Eventually, DailyMail revealed the participant's identity as Uma Jammeh, who was picked by Reuben Collins, leaving Wil out of the equation.

Despite securing a safe place for herself in the reality love contest, Uma decided to listen to the voice of her heart, convincing her to pack her bags and leave with her partner.

An insider told the outlet, "The villa is so full that people are sleeping on the day beds." This is why the "producers decided it was a good idea to trim the fat and called another dumping soon after Movie Night."

The dramatic setting ultimately made room in the Majorca villa by dumping Trey Norman and Ellie Jackson.

Love Island 's bosses never expected Uma to jump ship. "That rarely ever happens. And the person was one of the most popular in the villa," the source said earlier. "There are also more bombshells on the way that they could have had a better connection with," they added.

Nevertheless, the events of Movie Night reeled out moments worth popcorn-munching for the audience. Some members' not-so-smooth moves were exposed on the huge screen, leaving multiple relationships hanging by a thread, including Uma and Wil.

Who Is Still Together And Who Broke Up

Bachelor Nation is getting a new Bachelorette. This month, Jenn Tran will join the ranks of show leads looking for love while also making history as the first-ever Asian American Bachelorette. While Tran embarks on her own journey of the heart courting 25 different suitors from across the states, we look back upon the decades of ⁘Bachelor⁘ and ⁘Bachelorette⁘ couples (and a couple of ⁘Bachelor in Paradise⁘ members as well) who have brought drama, passion and ⁘ most importantly ⁘ love to the ABC franchise for years.

From recent winners Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson and Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko to the members of Bachelor royalty, including Becca Tilley, Matt James and Kaitlyn Bristowe, where are our favorite pairs now? Which former contestants have started a family and/or a podcast? Did Jared and Ashley get their happy ever after?

Which couples eloped at the city hall and which couples had a France fette worthy of its own romance film? Find out below.

Former "Bachelor" contestant turned Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe rose to fame as a fan favorite on the Chris Soules season, making it all the way to the final three. After landing her own season, despite being forced to compete for the title spot with co-contestant Britt Nilsson in a poorly conceived pre-show voting process, Bristowe brought in former contestant Nick Viall but ultimately left with Shawn Booth. Alas, the love was not meant to last, but eventually, Bristowe found romance with another ⁘Bachelorette⁘ contestant, Jason Tartick, who competed for the affection of Becca Kufrin in Season 14. After four years together, the duo publicly split in August of 2023.

⁘The Golden Bachelor⁘ may have been a success with viewers and critics, but Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's love was not meant to last. Turner debuted as the first-ever senior bachelor to loads of praise and with him came a cast of contestants all worthy of their own spin-off. After many on-camera cries and meetings with the grandkids, Turner picked Nist as the match to his heart. ABC ramped up this excitement by airing a wedding special in Palm Springs which was heavily attended by other franchise stars and even included an engagement between Brayden Bowers and his fellow "Bachelor in Paradise" co-star Christina Mandrell.

F1 British GP Live Updates: Lewis Hamilton Wins Amazing Race At Silverstone

Across 103 grand prix victories and seven world championships in close to 20 years on the Formula One grid, never had he felt the staggering rush of emotion that came at Silverstone upon crossing the line.

"I can't stop crying," Hamilton said with a chuckle, sniffing to compose himself for the post-race interview as he stood draped in a British flag collected from a marshal on the cool-down lap. The crowd cheered his name.

The release of emotion meant so much to Hamilton. Nearing the twilight of his F1 career and into his final season with Mercedes ahead of his switch to Ferrari next year, he inevitably wondered if he'd scored his last race win. If he'd forever be stuck on 103 and seven world titles.

"There's definitely been days between 2021 and here where I didn't feel like I was good enough or whether I was going to get back to where I am today," Hamilton admitted.

Disappointment and frustration were evident on Norris' face from the moment he took off his helmet. He rested his hands on the platform that held his bright helmet behind the P3 marker in parc ferme, staring at the ground. He would flash a smile every so often, like when he hugged Lewis Hamilton after the seven-time world champion won his first Formula One race in 945 days. But it wasn't a clear-cut Mercedes runaway victory. Either McLaren driver nearly had it.

At one point, McLaren held the first two spots of the race, but losing the lead came down to how it handled pit stops from both the team and driver's sides. Because the British Grand Prix is the latest race McLaren should've won.

"I'm fed up of saying, 'I should have done better' and, 'Could've done this, that,'" Norris told Sky Sports. "I don't want it to take time – we should be winning now, I should be making better decisions than the ones I'm making. I'm disappointed. It's a win in Formula One, and I'm not going to settle for something less when we should've achieved it."

Nico Hülkenberg finished right where he qualified in P6 today, capping a terrific wire-to-wire weekend at Silverstone. It's the first time he's finished in the top six in back-to-back races since 2018 – and the first such result for Haas since 2018, too.

How These 3 Women Ignored Physical Activity But Began Late And Got Back In Shape | Health And...

Savitri Bobde, a 39-year-old start-up owner in Bengaluru, had never exercised till 2020. Mistakenly believing she was fit because she was thin, she realised something was wrong when her knees gave way during a trek and she felt unusually exhausted. Pushpa Sharma, 62, balanced chores with her work as a government school teacher, travelling 80 km daily from her home in Jaipur, and started exercising as a retiree because of her diabetes. Noida's Vandana Garg, 54, took up exercising post-50 to control her weight and hormone issues. For a long time, she thought her obesity was due to her genes and no amount of physical activity or gym could address it.

These three women are a perfect representation of a latest Lancet study , which has found half the adult Indian population to be unfit. According to it, more women (57 per cent) than men (42 per cent men) are physically inactive. Despite being educated and informed, none of these women knew that they wouldn't have had the health complications in their middle age had they made exercise a part of their daily discipline in their 20s. But the good news is that all three, though late bloomers when it comes to fitness, have managed to turn their lives over.

"Now I cannot live without exercise," says Savitri, who is watching her diet too. She has increased her protein intake. Alternating yoga with calisthenics every week day, she even walks 4 km in the evening. Now she's preparing for a trek at Kishtwar in Jammu . "I do half-an-hour of stair climbing with an eight-kg backpack. I am not tired anymore," adds Savitri.

Married at 17, Pushpa moved to her marital home in a village for a few years, doing hard labour and staying up nights to complete her B-Ed course. Even when the family moved to Jaipur and she got a job as a teacher, her posting was in a government school 80 km away. "I would wake up at 4.30 am, cook for the family and set out at 6 am because school began at 7 am. For many years till my retirement, I took a train, shared a ride and walked to reach my school. I never had breakfast except a cup of tea, had a brunch of rotis and vegetables around the student's tiffin break at 10.30 am and never had anything till dinner. The long gaps between meals led to chronic acidity,⁘ says Pushpa, detailing her overstressed younger years where there was no room for exercise.

Shark Tank Pakistan To Premiere On Green Entertainment In Sep 2024

Amid an economic crisis marked by volatile currency rates, soaring inflation, and arduous external debt, Pakistan's start-up ecosystem is in dire need of support. With two-thirds of Pakistan's 240 million people under 30, the country boasts one of the largest youth populations in the world. According to a 2019 UNDP report, 23% of young Pakistanis want to start their own businesses, a number which has probably risen in the past five years.

Pakistan's startups have been rapidly extending across diverse sectors, including e-commerce, fintech, health tech, agritech, and edtech. Despite this growth, unprecedented challenges restrict Pakistani start-ups to flourish. Limited venture capital funding, high employee costs, reticence from international investors, and lowered consumer spending have made it difficult for start-ups to get the required resources. Moreover, the oligopolistic market structure worsens these challenges, creating a tough environment for new businesses.

Amidst this backdrop, Grenlit Studios has acquired the rights to the famous reality TV franchise, Shark Tank. Pakistan's first Shark Tank series will go on-air in September 2024 on Green Entertainment. This series is anticipated to be a game-changer for the start-up ecosystem of Pakistan. Usman Malik, Rizwan Siddiqui, and Tariq Qazi are the founders of Shark Tank Pakistan .

Grenlit Studios aims to recount this success in Pakistan. The show is tipped to improve Pakistan's start-up scene by showcasing local entrepreneurial talent and restoring the Pakistab's content landscape. Malik, a content licensing specialist, underscored the rarity of a standalone content company acquiring a global franchise license. He stated:

Shark Tank Pakistan will feature a panel of six investors, including two female sharks, to ensure diverse representation and perspectives. Notable sharks include Rabeel Warraich, founder of Sarmayacar; Aleena Nadeem of Ventura Capital; Junaid Iqbal, CEO of Salt Ventures; Karim Teli, a successful business leader; Faisal Aftab, an IT venture investor; Romana Dada, a Forbes-featured entrepreneur; and Usman Bashir, a veteran of retail and gas stations.

"I think about it every day, all the time. I think if I pushed it aside, that would be such a dishonor to me in who I am because being Asian American, that's me," the 26-year-old aspiring physician assistant tells The Associated Press.

A Vietnamese American woman reigning over Bachelor Nation marks a significant moment for the reality TV dating behemoth. Historically, fewer roses on "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" have gone to contestants of color. The roses that were handed out often came with plenty of thorns, including racist social media commentary.

Tran's season doesn't debut on ABC until Monday, but it's already received some criticism for having few suitors of Asian descent. Still, Tran — who made it to the final six in the last "Bachelor" season starring Joey Graziadei — is embracing her unconventional search for love as an opportunity to share her bicultural upbringing.

"My mom and I speak a lot of Vietnamese together. And I can't wait for people to see that. That's not something that people have seen before," Tran says.

"The Bachelor" has been a mixed bag when it comes to showcasing Asian cultures. In 2019, "Bachelor" lead Colton Underwood went on a group date over Singaporean street food. The mostly white contestants made gagging noises and Colton, who is also white, made a toast "to weird food." The outing drew some backlash and even a Washington Post column.

Tran, whose season has already completed filming, assures that the show has handled her Vietnamese identity respectfully.

"There is a small scene in the beginning in my intro package where I talk to my family about leaving as a bachelorette and there they cooked a big, big Vietnamese meal," Tran says. "I hope ... I'm exposing people to something that's different than them. And so that can incite change and that can incite acceptance into people."

'Amazing Race Canada' Season 10: Eliminated Trystenne Burey And Eva Amo-Mensah On 'Scary' Roadblock, Challenge...

The Amazing Race Canada Season 10 is off to a tough start in Niagara Falls, Ont., with racers having to rappel down the side of the Horseshoe Falls, and then put their memory to the test. For Trystenne Burey and Eva Amo-Mensah, both personal trainers from Toronto, they couldn't beat the other 10 teams in the first leg of the race, being the first eliminated racers, but they're still ⁘on cloud nine⁘ after sharing their experience with their friends, families and the rest of Canada.

⁘We haven't really seen Black women like us on TV before,⁘ Amo-Mensah told Yahoo Canada . ⁘So this was the perfect opportunity to come out there and show Black Girl Magic, and show that we can do this too.⁘

⁘We really wanted to do something that was going to inspire generations to come,⁘ Burey added. ⁘We don't get to see two Black women supporting each other, ... motivating each other, often.⁘

As we see in the episode, Burey, who is afraid of heights, was the team member who repelled down the cliff, but her teammate supported her all the way through.

⁘It was definitely scary,⁘ Burey said. ⁘I think too, leading up to it, we ran from the initial starting point to the rock wall, so that in itself was exhausting.⁘

⁘Your heart is racing, you get there and you're like, 'Oh no, this is what's happening right now.' So I feel like it was definitely a whirlwind of emotions, but to have completed it, I'm so proud of myself. I wish they showed more as I was lowering down and trying to just motivate myself, I could hear Eva clearer and clearer the lower I got, and it was ... calming to know that she's there, she's rooting for me.⁘

⁘After we finished that first challenge, we kind of saw what was next and we just picked the first thing,⁘ Amo-Mensah explained. ⁘The Show Time, we didn't think it would be that much memorization.⁘

⁘People are staring at you, it's just very hard to focus and concentrate, so that's why we decided to switch to the arcade games, and honestly that worked out better for us anyways, because we're very physical people.⁘
