This week's edition features the rowdy rebirth of one of San Francisco's most iconic bars, a basement punk rock show, and a film festival screening that made us rethink what acting is all about. Read all about it below, and scroll to the bottom for a few recommendations on upcoming events.

The basement of this Bernal Heights record shop is one of San Francisco's weird rooms. You know the type . A wicker chair in one corner, string lights hanging from the ceiling, graffiti lining exposed wooden beams. Knickknacks seem to spawn from the void. The ceiling is low, the floor uneven and the speakers alarmingly loud. You enter through an unmarked door, which leads down a long, dark hallway. You then emerge into a small, fenced-in backyard, complete with a rudimentary garden, walk past the punks swigging PBR tallboys and slip through the basement door, which yawns like the mouth of a cave.

A handful of local and not-so-local bands played at the basement last Friday. But the guests of honor were the Fleshies, an Oakland punk act whom my downstairs neighbor, a longtime San Franciscan, referred to as "the best Bay Area punk band." They've been around since the 1990s and now play only a few shows a year. The old Fleshies fans came out of the woodwork. One audience member even brought a baby, who sat on his lap in the wicker chair like a pale lump in a pair of protective earmuffs.

John No, the vocalist, came out with googly eyes stuck all over his face. He spent about as much time rolling around on the floor as standing up. (He really loved that floor.) At one point, his head ended up wrapped inside one guy's T-shirt; at another, he did a two-minute headstand while yelping out lyrics. All before 7 p.m.! Stagecoach Festival is once again the place for the who⁘s who of Bachelor Nation to reconnect ⁘ even if they⁘re exes.

Joey Graziadei and his fianc⁘e, Kelsey Anderson , stepped out at the Indio, California, music festival on Saturday, April 27, in matching straw cowboy hats. Kelsey, 25, wore hers with a white blouse and denim cutoffs and a pair of cross earrings. Joey, 28, opted for a Hawaiian-style shirt with a jean jacket and a blue bandana.

In between performances, Joey and Kelsey got a hydration treatment from Drip Labs at a rented villa. They were there getting IVs alongside Maria Georgas , who made it to Joey⁘s final four on The Bachelor season 28.

Drip Labs shared footage of the exes and Kelsey getting their IVs, which Maria, 29, reposted onto her Instagram Story.

Later, Joey and Kelsey watched the festival performances from the diamond VIP area, with an eyewitness telling Us that Kelsey ⁘was sitting on [Joey⁘s] lap⁘ as they chatted with Hannah Godwin and her husband, Dylan Barbour . Joey also mingled with former Bachelor Peter Weber, but he refused to leave Kelsey behind when they were about to move sections. ⁘[Joey] said, ⁘Wait, let me get my girl,⁘ before heading out,⁘ the insider adds.

⁘I think what I⁘m most excited about is the ability to be around each other so much,⁘ Joey exclusively told Us Weekly later that month. ⁘We finally will be able to just do small things together.⁘

He added at the time, ⁘We⁘ll figure out how to navigate [social media criticism] day by day. It⁘s something that we⁘re trying not to focus on too much because we got so many other things that we⁘re excited about that we do want to focus on.⁘

Before Joey chose Kelsey for his final rose, he had other strong connections with the likes of Daisy Kent, Rachel Nance and Maria. The tennis instructor ultimately eliminated Maria after hometowns and Rachel following fantasy suites before Daisy left on her own during the finale.

Julia Gagnon Rightly The Pride Of Maine

Julia Gagnon, the 22-year-old Guatemala native who went to middle school in North Yarmouth, took the top prize in the contest at the Quarry Tap Room in Hallowell last summer.

Little did Gagnon know that – within the year – she would successfully audition for the national series it was modeled on (with an Aretha Franklin number), and gradually advance all the way to the competition's top 10.

Watch parties have sprung up around Maine for Gagnon's TV performances. Online as off, the reaction to her singular voice and her success has been exuberant. "Watch out, world," Rep. Chellie Pingree posted, "the next @AmericanIdol is going to be a Mainer!"

"HOLY BANANAS LISTEN TO THIS WOMAN SING," the Press Herald's music writer Aimsel Ponti tweeted at the end of March. Since then, Gagnon's following has only grown.

Sunday night at 8 p.m. on ABC, Gagnon sings for the nation again. The University of Southern Maine student has been out in Hollywood since March.

Richard Branson is perhaps the most famous example. A dyslexic, he dropped out of high school and never looked back. Barbara Corcoran 's educational journey might have been even tougher. According to the real estate mogul-turned- Shark Tank personality, she too had dyslexia and got, in her words, "straight Ds" throughout school.

Wisconsin firefighters Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith came into tonight's episode of "The Amazing Race" aiming for the stars.

It might have been a reach given that they were once again starting from the back of the pack like they were all season. But viewers of season 36 of the CBS reality competition TV show know by now not to count these self-proclaimed "badasses" out .

However, their season-long navigation problems resurfaced at the worst time during tonight's episode.

And when they checked in at the pit stop host Phil Keoghan wasn't telling them that they were "Team No. 1" like they had hoped hours earlier.

Unfortunately, he told them that they were the last team to arrive and were eliminated. After Milwaukee native and Custer High School graduate Shelisa Williams and her husband Derek were eliminated in episode 6, it was the second straight week a team with a Wisconsin connection saw their dream for the $1 million prize end.

"Look at these big smiles," Keoghan said to Pulver and Smith at Playa Malvín, the site of the pit stop. "Probably the biggest smiles ever for any team being eliminated."

Smith had the honor of running the race with "a great woman, friend and partner," in Pulver, she told Keoghan.

What Is Slow Running? 5 Benefits Of This Exercise

Evans did not care. He started running — regularly, poorly, slowly. "I wasn't trying to 'slow run,'" he says now. "I was just running, and I was slow, so I decided to celebrate that and get the health benefits rather than feel like it was some moral failure. I was more passionate about being active than getting faster or skinnier."

The impulse to do more, to constantly push for better times and lower BMIs, permeates the running world, where coaches, training apps, magazines and online groups all emphasize performance and weight loss. "There's an elitism to running, where people are always posting their times with the sense that if I have a better time than you, I'm somehow superior," he adds.

Many clubs and races have a cutoff of roughly 10 minutes per mile. "If you are slower than that, they have no place for you. There was no one I could run with," Evans says. "When I got in races, the water stations and finish line were usually closed before I got done. I thought, 'I can't be the only one.'"

Then the pandemic hit. Many races were canceled, and Evans started organizing virtual races through the club. That's when things got wild. "Seems like everyone suddenly got into running, especially people who hadn't been runners, and we were getting a lot of people reaching out," he says. "They had questions about what to do and how to get started, and I answered every one of them."

With uncharacteristic speed, slow running became sought for its ease, inclusivity, sense of community and focus on activity over achievement. The Slow AF Run Club built an app, and Evans even wrote a book. Club membership is up to 40,000, with a free tier that provides access to the community and a paid level that includes coaching and training programs. "It's a safe space where runners can gather and know there's not gonna be any pressure about going faster or any talk about weight loss or diets," Evans says.

As for his own path, he's never returned to the doctor who first scoffed at him, but he's completed eight marathons and has no intention of slowing down — or speeding up — anytime soon. "How fast you are shouldn't matter," Evans says. "What matters is that you're out there doing the thing."

Rumours are already swirling about the celebrity contestants for the forthcoming series. Names like actor Hannah Waddingham, ex-footballer Jill Scott and comedian Alan Carr have surfaced as possible participants.

Is Evening Exercise Better For People With Obesity?

A new study from researchers at the University of Sydney in Australia, published in the journal Diabetes Care , suggests that getting the majority of daily physical activity during the evening offers the most health benefits for people who have obesity.

A recent study reports that more than 1 billion people in the world are considered to have obesity, with projections that this number could potentially hit 4 billion people by 2050 .

"One of the key drivers of obesity-related complications is insulin resistance — a condition which eventually leads to high blood glucose levels and type 2 diabetes. Having high blood glucose levels can cause catastrophic damage to our cardiovascular system and lead to organ failure," Sabag said.

For this study, Sabag and his team analyzed data from the U.K. Biobank of almost 30,000 people over the age of 40. All participants were considered to have obesity and about 3,000 had type 2 diabetes.

Both moderate and vigorous physical activity raises a person's heart and breathing rates. Examples of moderate physical activity include:

Sabag said he and his research team believe their results may be partly explained by the improved cardiometabolic regulation associated with undertaking physical activity during the evening, a theory which is supported by recent clinical studies.

'Shark Tank': Barbara Corcoran Offers To Revamp Blinger CEO's Business

Angie Cella was a "Shark Tank" investor's perfect candidate, according to the show's judges: a big dreamer and go-getter with a powerful backstory.

The only catch, the investors said on Friday's episode of the ABC show: Cella's business needed a major overhaul, and Barbara Corcoran wanted to be the woman for the job.

By the time of filming last year, the product was projected to bring in $4.2 million in annual sales, Cella said. She asked the show's investor judges for $200,000, in exchange for 5% of her product, which she sold through a parent company she named GEMC².

In 2018, after getting Blinger manufactured, Cella got a booth at a toy fair in Dallas. She struck a licensing deal there with a company called Wicked Cool Toys, which placed Blinger in retailers like Target, Walmart and Amazon.

"In 2019, they did over $20 million wholesale," said Cella. "But Covid happened [and] sales went down, so my income went down."

Wicked Cool Toys was also acquired by a company called Jazwares in 2019, and the new owners weren't as interested in selling Blinger, Cella recently told the "Making It In The Toy Industry" podcast. Copycat products emerged, eating further into the product's dwindling sales.

A new unplugged version of the song ⁘Zari,⁘ by Greece⁘s Eurovision 2024 Song Contest representative Marina Satti, was uploaded on Tuesday night to the official Eurovision YouTube account.

Marina Satti again takes center stage with her performance, which is accompanied by musical instruments such as the clarinet and zurna . The YouTube comments are positive, with many of them coming from abroad and expressing their support for Greek participation.

The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmo, Sweden on May 7th, 9th, and 11th, and Marina Satti will perform third in the second semi-final, which will be held on May 9th.

In the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 7th, fifteen countries will participate in the following order: Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia , Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Australia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.

In the first semi-final, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Germany will all appear and vote. In the second semi-final, on May 9th, the following will participate in turn: Malta, Albania, Greece, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark, Armenia, Israel, Estonia, Georgia, the Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, San Marino, and Belgium.

The country competed every year until 1999, when it was relegated from participation. "The idea that we could reverse aging is something that was long considered science fiction, but these findings do allow us to understand a lot more about the aging process," said Riekelt Houtkooper, Professor of Translational Metabolism at Amsterdam University Medical Centre, said in a statement.

In a study published in the journal Nature Aging , Houtkooper and his Amsterdam University colleagues set about finding one of these aging-related molecules and potential methods for reversing its accumulation.

"Aging biomarkers are important because they will help us tracking the effects of anti-aging treatments," Houtkooper told Newsweek . "In addition, they provide insight into the mechanisms of aging, i.e. to help us understand what causes aging so we can develop new treatments."

The problem is, there are hundreds of different lipids in our bodies, which makes it difficult to know which ones are responsible for age-related decline.
