Brit did a little Q&A on her Insta Friday, and the headline was surely assuring everyone she's OK ... and not just OK, but "extremely happy."
The 39-year-old singer, who's been under a conservatorship for 13+ years, seemed chill. Many fans tried decoding her penchant for red -- i.e., her red fridge -- thinking it might be a code red of sorts pleading for help. But, in a Freudian-like way, Brit said sometimes a red fridge is just a red fridge.
Britney says she's taking a break to enjoy herself, and there was rare, public evidence of that this week when she hit up the Malibu Country Mart for a little shopping.
Britney has said she didn't like the 'Framing Britney Spears' documentary, although she added she only saw bits and pieces of it.
Britney Spears documentary, conservatorship: Everything she's said
Spears said she's focused on "keep(ing) my own joy... love... and happiness," especially through dance: "It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I've always been so judged... insulted... and embarrassed by the media... and I still am till this day."
Britney Spears officially requested the resignation of her father as her personal conservator, according to documents filed March 23 in probate court in Los Angeles.
She sought to permanently replace him with Jodi Montgomery, a state-appointed conservator who has temporarily acted as her personal conservator since her father relinquished the role in September 2019 amid health issues.
In an attachment, her lawyer sought to ensure that Montgomery would have the power to make medical decisions, communicate with her doctors and have access to her medical records. She also would be able to limit Britney's visitors with the exception of her lawyer, retain caretakers and security guards on a 24/7 basis, and prosecute civil harassment restraining orders deemed appropriate.
The petition did not make clear whether Britney Spears intends for Jamie Spears to retain his other role as conservator of her finances. His lawyers have argued he has greatly improved her financial estate, now worth around $60 million.
But a separate document in the court file shows that Jamie Spears and Bessemer Trust, his co-conservator of her finances, will have the power to access all documents and records relating to her assets, and to take actions necessary to secure them, in addition to a host of other powers typically wielded by financial managers.
The petition to remove Jamie Spears may be a direct result of what his lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, said publicly in February in response to criticism on social media and the documentary.
"(Jamie) would love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship," Thoreen told CNN on Feb. 25. "Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it."
Following the documentary's release, Spears said on Twitter and Instagram Feb. 9 that she's focused on being "a normal person."
Britney Spears Sends Video Message to 'Concerned' Fans
The "Lucky" singer said the minute-and-a-half video, which shows her in one of her beloved floral peasant tops, is unseen footage from the project which she has previously teased on social media. Some fans believe "Just a Touch of Rose" is related to an upcoming documentary about Spears that Netflix announced in February 2021, but the Crossroads star has not confirmed that — or any involvement in that documentary.
Fan interest in the conservatorship reached a new peak earlier this year with the February release of "Framing Britney Spears," an episode of the docuseries The New York Times Presents . In March, the pop star said that she had not seen the whole thing but was "embarrassed" by the parts that she did watch. "From what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in," she wrote on Instagram. "I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ✨🙏🏼 ☀️ !!!!"
Though the Grammy winner has been gracious to fans expressing concern about her well-being since the show premiered, she is not happy about the public airing of her personal business . "She's embarrassed by the documentary mainly because her kids are at the age where they can access it and watch what their mom has gone through," a source exclusively told Us Weekly in April. "It's turned into a nightmare for her because she can't imagine what her kids are going to think now, and it's certainly triggered some emotions from her past. She's a major pop star, but she's still a human being who is super sensitive and, sadly, is really affected by the public's opinion about her."
The singer shares sons Sean Preston , 15, and Jayden , 14, with ex-husband Kevin Federline , whom she divorced in July 2007.
Sarah Silverman regrets Britney Spears, Paris Hilton jokes
The subject came up Wednesday when she appeared on SiriusXM's Comedy Gold Minds with Kevin Hart , and Hart asked how she felt about comedians apologizing for jokes that haven't aged well.
In the case of Spears, Silverman was called out on Twitter, in the wake of the February documentary Framing Britney Spears , for words she said at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. It showed her making fun of Spears's career, the much-hyped performance she had just given and even her children.
Silverman added, "I wish I could delete it but I can't," and she asked the person confronting her why she was posting a clip of her performance for everyone to see again.
"And while I was, you know, thrilled at the success of my monologue, I remember spotting her in the audience. I really do," Silverman said on The Sarah Silverman Podcast . "And I remember seeing that look on her face, and my heart sank. Because there was a person under there."
Silverman addressed the incident after Hilton herself spoke about it on her This Is Paris podcast.
Everybody, dance now!! Why? Because we have something to celebrate—our beloved "O.G. Aunt Viv" will become another type of "O.G." That's right actress Janet Hubert has been cast in TBS' The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.
Katy Perry did not mince words when recently expressing her feelings about social media. Posting from her Twitter account on Thursday, which has almost 110 million followers, the 36-year-old singer launched into a rant about online culture. "Social media is trash," she tweeted, providing no further context.
The Covid-19 pandemic's rampage through the music world has laid bare the industry's flaws, shining a bright light on "the plight of songwriters," says ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus.
"It's exhausting. I would rather have my goals be something like 'be better at guitar.' I feel like that would be more satisfying."

Britney Spears Was Not Madonna's First Choice for 2003 MTV VMAs Kiss
In 2003, people watching the MTV Video Music Awards got more of a show than they were expecting. During a performance of her new song, Madonna planted a steamy kiss on one of the celebrities she was singing with, Britney Spears . The moment was shocking to many viewers, and it made headlines around the world.
Not many people realize that she also kissed Christina Aguilera, who was on stage with her too. Even fewer realize that neither of the women was her first choice.
Why didn’t most viewers see the other kiss, and who was the woman who missed out entirely? Here’s what you may not know about that iconic moment.
At the end of their duet, Madonna emerged from an oversized wedding cake to sing her new single, “Hollywood.” But although that collection of multi-generational and controversial stars would have been enough to keep people talking for weeks, they threw in a moment that is still remembered almost two decades later.
To cap off the highly sensual performance, Madonna turned, brushed the hair out of Spears’ face, and gave her a deep kiss.
“I saw the newspaper the next day,” Aguilera remembered, “and it was like, ‘Oh — well I guess I got left out of that one.’ “
She was able to shrug off missing out on most of the firestorm of attention that followed. But it turns out that she and Spears almost didn’t get the opportunity to appear on stage with Madonna at all.
