Love Island Costing ITV Huge Amount Every Hour As Show Postponed Amid Wildfires

ITV loses a jaw-dropping £15,000 every single hour as Love Island All Stars continues to be postponed amid Cape Town's wildfire emergency. Bosses at the broadcaster announced that the show would be put on hold due to health and safety concerns, with the new series set to premiere tomorrow night.

However, filming has now been cancelled for two days, as the winter villa, Ludus Magnus, was evacuated due to the raging fires in South Africa. The luxurious property is situated in Franschhoek, in South Africa's Western Cape region, and costs a staggering £9,000 per night to rent.

A source told the Sun : “Bosses have no choice but to wait for the area to be deemed completely safe. The desire is to be back as soon as possible, but risk and health and safety assessments are still ongoing.”

⁘The filming for their arrivals/meetings take hours. Safety is priority though and they have plans in place for such situations. But not ideal given the show hasn't even begun.⁘

South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape have been hit by the blaze, with the strong winds and high temperatures fuelling the spread of the fire. While emergency services said on Friday January 9 that significant progress was made overnight in some areas, wildfires in Langrug and Franschhoek areas in the Boland were still burning 'out of control'.

A spokesperson for Cape Winelands District Municipality's Fire Services told SABC News that a military flight had been planned. From that, authorities would be able to assess the full extent of the fire and forecast its direction.
