
Season 2 of "The Golden Bachelor" premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 , from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
The reality show airs on ABC every Wednesday after its premiere. Episodes of "The Golden Bachelorette" stream on Hulu the following day, on Thursday.
Mel Owens is a retired NFL player and attorney from Detroit, Michigan. Owens attended the University of Michigan and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams as the ninth pick in the 1981 NFL Draft.
After retiring from football, Owens moved to California to pursue a career in law, representing clients in sports-related injuries, according to a press release. He shares two sons with his first wife, Fabiana Pimentel.
He was announced as the second-ever "Golden Bachelor" in April. He already faced controversy for comments in which he stated he would eliminate any female contestants from the dating show aged 60 or over. He has since apologized.
"I'm thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60," the ex-linebacker told Glamour . "That's my age range. I'm thinking that's the gold years for me."
Born and raised in Marion, Ohio (about an hour north of Columbus), Lisa Flaherty works as a state park employee. The 66-year-old mother of two considers herself a "bird nerd," but outside of her love of nature, she's also a self-proclaimed cat lady and huge fan of Taylor Swift. Additionally, she loves kayaking, animal rescue and drinking cold beers on a patio.
Flaherty is a lifelong sports fan, rooting for Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Cavaliers. A dedicated car enthusiast, she is described as a handy-woman who works on her own cars as well as home-renovation projects.
