Marc Anthony apologizes for concert's 'total collapse'

Marc Anthony publicly apologized to his fans on Sunday after what he called "a total collapse of the streaming platform” that was to show his virtual concert worldwide over the weekend.

Anthony’s “One Night Only” show was promoted globally, with a guest performance by Daddy Yankee. But Anthony later said “overwhelming demand” caused a major tech glitch that kept the show from going on.

The singer pledged: “You can rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to make sure that the people that spent their hard-earned money have the opportunity to see the show as soon as possible and will make it right for you all.”

The snafu sparked online complaints by disappointed fans, and made Anthony a trending Twitter topic when they could not access the show.

At 1:30 a.m., the pop star, 52, said that the show was not going on, and issued an apology via social media.

Anthony recently participated in a recent InStyle cover story on his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, telling the mag of her work ethic: "She's the first one in the room and the last to leave. The hardest worker I've ever met." Eyebrows were raised that the piece included quotes from Anthony and another of J.Lo’s exes, Ben Affleck, but not Alex Rodriguez.

Soon after the article, Lopez and A-Rod confirmed that they’d split up — as had been exclusively reported by Page Six a month earlier.

Marc Anthony's Magnus, VIS Set 'Liked' As Second Collaboration - Variety

A Latina Millennial obsessed with racking up as many ‘likes’ as she can on social media is the focus of the latest collaboration between music superstar Marc Anthony ’s production shingle Magnus Studios and ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS).

Explaining the concept for the comedy “Liked” during a pre-recorded MIP TV keynote on Wednesday evening with VIS president J.C. Acosta, Anthony revealed that much of the series’ humor stems from the conflict between the influencer’s online persona and her real personality.

The series will be penned and directed by Argentine filmmaker Gabriela Tagliavini, best known for her features “Without Men,” “Perfect Lover” and “Ladies Night.”

The first collaboration between the fast-expanding international content production arm of ViacomCBS and Magnus – which was announced in October – is kids animated series  “Gloria Wants to Know It All” which follows an alpaca from the city who spends time at her grandfather’s house in the country, learning about Latin American culture.

“It’s what I wished I’d been able to watch as a child in terms of representation,” Anthony observed.

The animation is being made with Juan José Campanella, writer-director of the Academy Award winning “The Secret in Their Eyes” and Miami-based Lanugo Media, a family entertainment company committed to creating culturally diverse content.

The animation will also feature musical input from the six-time Grammy and Latin Grammy award winner Anthony ,  who will also have the role of executive producer and executive music producer on the show.

Acosta praised the Magnus team for “really taking the time to curate the stories and finding the best showrunners to work with to create the next great hits for our platforms and our streaming services.”

Elsewhere in the keynote interview, Anthony told Acosta that he was inspired to launch his entertainment company six years ago to fill the void of “Latin-centric universal stories”

Adam Toledo: Thousands gather in Logan Square Park, demand justice

As the group gathered in the park Friday evening, hundreds spilled onto surrounding streets, some clogged with cars, and volunteers passed out homemade masks to protesters. Signs saying "Justice for Adam Toledo" with an illustration of Adam against a backdrop of clouds were posted in windows of several small businesses in the area.

The demonstration was organized by community organizations, including Únete La Villita, GoodKids MadCity and Chicago Freedom School.

"There's no reason why a mother should be burying her kid," Sandra Nevarez said, adding, "There's should be no reason why I'm going to the cemetery every day. No reason why I don't have grandkids."

"When I saw the video, it gave our family hella strength to show up today," said Roxana Figueroa, flanked by seven other family members.

The crowd then marched several blocks, chanting "say his name, Adam Toledo," before taking a knee at an intersection to hear from several more youth speakers, who called for the abolition of the Chicago Police Department. The group observed three minutes of silence — one for each of Toledo, Nevarez and Alvarez — as helicopters hovered above.

"Adam we love you. We will not stop until there is justice for you," the protesters chanted. "We will fight for justice."

Claypool said they made the signs themselves but speaking to his young children about the shooting of Adam Toledo wasn't easy.

Three hours into the protest in 39-degree weather, people were still marching, some putting on gloves. As the group passed Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's block, a line of police officers blocked the street, and some chanted expletives toward Lightfoot's house as others marched on .

"They lied," she said. "It's proof we need to blame the system, not Adam, not his mother, not his community."
