Blackpink member Rosé has released the video for her solo single, “Gone,” which she first shared last month.
The clip shows the South Korean singer mourning the loss of a relationship in an elaborately decorated old house. In various scenes, Rosé poses with gorgeous blue flowers, throws feathery pillows around the room in frustration, and cries against a bathtub. The video’s happier moments are interspersed with sadder scenes, where the house’s furniture is covered in tarp and Rosé is throwing out old picture frames.
“Gone” is featured on Rosé’s debut solo project R , which also includes the track “On the Ground.” In an interview for Rolling Stone ‘s The First Time , she described how she “hadn’t heard a song like that before” when her producer showed her the backing track for “On the Ground.”
“I didn’t expect to hear a song like that because every song that we get or begin with doesn’t have these kinds of messages in it. For us, it was kind of like, I think this song kinda speaks our mind.”

Even before they released an album, Blackpink worked their way up to the top, establishing themselves as not only one of the most exciting musical acts to emerge from South Korea, but one of the most popular and bestselling girl groups in the world. When the time finally did come to drop a complete project, the band made history on charts seemingly everywhere, and now, months after it first arrived, the set is still going strong in the largest music market in the world.
This week, Blackpink's debut full-length The Album falls 20 spaces on the Billboard 200, dipping from No. 160 to No. 180.
The longest-charting albums by any South Korean musical act (which in this specific instance just means BTS) are Love Yourself: Answer (98 weeks), Map of the Soul: 7 (58 weeks), Love Yourself: Her (44 weeks) and Map of the Soul: Persona (35 weeks).
The Album narrowly missed out on becoming a leader when it debuted last fall, as it opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. That still makes it by far the highest-charting effort by a South Korean girl group, and it gave the quartet their third placement on the tally, which still stands as the most among all-female vocal troupes from the Asian country.
BLACKPINK's Rose Does 'WAP' Challenge, Cardi B Responds | Billboard
How you like that, Cardi B ? BLACKPINK 's Rosé recently hit the 10 million-follower milestone on TikTok, and she celebrated with a little dance -- to the rapper's viral "WAP" challenge , to be specific.
"#10M !! Here you go," the K-pop star captioned a TikTok video of herself getting down to the explicit track featuring Megan Thee Stallion. In the clip posted in the early morning hours of Sunday (April 4), Rosé -- barefoot and in an oversized light gray hoodie and sweatpants -- starts off with the high kick before quickly making it drop, and giggling as she finishes the dance on the floor.
Only 10 hours after posting, the video of her dancing to Cardi B's Hot 100 No. 1 song had already garnered more than 2.2 million views. And among the sets of eyeballs on the video were none other than the "Up" rapper's own.
Retweeting a follower's clip of Rosé taking on the challenge, Cardi seemed impressed by how the singer managed to make her dance feel so clean. "She still looks sooo innocent," Cardi B noted. "So Buteee."
After celebrating with her "WAP" dance, Rosé got back to work by releasing the music video for her latest single, "Gone," off her debut solo project, -R- . The visual, which arrived at 11 a.m. ET Sunday, features the singer going through an emotional rollercoaster as she reflects on a romance gone bad.

BLACKPINK's Lisa Is Next in China's Line of Fire | Jing Daily
What Happened: Over the past week, a slew of fashion brands have been blacklisted in China due to their refusal to source Xinjiang-made cotton, from fast fashion leader H&M to luxury names like Burberry and Calvin Klein .
But now, an unexpected player has taken a hit: BLACKPINK's Lisa. The lead dancer of the K-pop girl group recently saw her cover for the April 2021 issue of Harper's Bazaar China scrapped from the magazine's social media — despite not being Chinese or taking a political stance. Netizens suggest that the Thai artist's association with adidas Originals could have put the publication in a tough spot, although neither Harper's Bazaar China or BLACKPINK's management have addressed the issue publicly.
The Jing Take: Whether or not these speculations are true, adidas is proving to be one of the companies hardest hit by the crisis. On top of Huawei pulling the brand from its app store , adidas has also lost a number of Chinese celebrity partners, including Angelababy, Jackson Wang, and Jackson Yee. The sportswear giant has even been blurred on iQIYI's show Youth With You , where it has dressed dozens of idol hopefuls head to toe in its striped apparel.
But whereas adidas has direct ties to the Better Cotton Initiative , Lisa's cover removal comes as a surprise given her silence on the issue and surging popularity in China, where she boasts eight million Weibo followers, a recurring mentorship role on the aforementioned iQIYI program, as well as previous cover shoots on Elle China and Nylon China . Thus, the social media erasure perhaps says less about the artist herself and acts more as a precaution by Harper's Bazaar China to stave off potential netizen wrath. But this brings up the question: How far does China's "cancel culture" extend?

Cardi B reacts to BLACKPINK's Rosé taking on the 'WAP' challenge | NME
BLACKPINK's Rosé recently tried her hand the viral 'WAP' dance challenge on TikTok after hitting 10million followers on the app.
Yesterday (April 4), the BLACKPINK member posted a clip of herself dancing to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion 's hit single 'WAP' .
Rosé had launched her Tiktok account last month, following her solo debut with 'On the Ground' from her single album 'R', and promised to do the challenge if she hit 10million followers on the social media platform.
The idol stayed true to her word, and filmed her giggly rendition of the dance challenge alongside the caption "#10M!! Here you go", accompanied by the eye-roll emoji.
Fans quickly took to Twitter and began trending "WASPÉ" (a combination of "WAP" and "Rosé"), which caught Cardi B's attention. She then revealed that she was looking for the video, tweeting: "Looking for the Wapse."
The rapper eventually found the video through a fan, and seemed endeared at how Rosé managed to make the explicit dance challenge look so wholesome. "She still looks so innocent…Sooo [cuteee]," Cardi B replied.
The pair previously worked together on the song 'Bet You Wanna' from BLACKPINK's first studio album, simply titled 'THE ALBUM', which dropped last October.
Last night, Rosé dropped the music video for 'Gone', the second track from her album. It was first teased back in January, leading up to her performance of the song during BLACKPINK's online concert, 'THE SHOW'. The track was originally released alongside 'On the Ground' on March 12.
