A Minnesota woman wants to make waves in the fashion world by becoming the first person with Down Syndrome to be featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Mikayla Holmgren, 26, is already the first woman with the condition to compete in a Miss USA pageant , a feat she accomplished in 2017.
“We tell all our people who have special needs or Down syndrome, go ahead and do it,” Holmgren said in Friday’s episode of “PEOPLE (the TV Show).”

Camille Kostek had an awesome reaction when she found she made the cover of the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. But the Wipeout star recently revealed that she "blacked out" when she first learned the news. Kostek appeared on podcast 10 Questions with Kyle Brandt with her boyfriend, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski . She said she couldn't believe that it actually happened.
“It was incredible, and she’s blacked out from it, and she was sober, and I blacked out many times not sober,” Gronkowski told Brandt this week. “We kind of have similar traits there.” Kostek's Sports Illustrated cover has led to her being involved in other projects. On April 1, fans can see her on the game show Wipeout with hosts John Cena and Nicole Byer.

Kostek posted two photos on her Instagram profile that showed her on the beach and in her swimsuit. She explained that the images were captured in South Australia in 2019 and that they never officially appeared on the page of Sports Illustrated . They were only posted online as part of a collage. Kostek explained that she liked the photos, but she "wasn't proud" of them.

"I remember seeing it and liking it but not being proud of it," Kostek wrote on Instagram. "I write this now and feel SO silly that I ever thought less of myself and my body, and that I was almost embarrassed to ever share it to my feed. I remember thinking I looked 'thick' in this photo and I look at it now and think WOW I look GREAT. How could my same mind look at the same photo and have completely different thoughts on my OWN SELF.
