In the previous edition of "Revisiting Wrestling Video Games," the most memorable titles on the Nintendo Wii were discussed. While the Wii’s importance to the seventh generation of video game consoles can’t be overlooked, it can best be described as a unique beast. Simply put, it was often kept separate from Microsoft and Sony. During the seventh generation, the real feud was between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This was a race that, by the end, was closer than anyone expected.

From High Scores to Classic Donkey Kong, these Docs Take On Video Games
Since it's a relatively new medium, there haven't yet been that many good, thoughtful movies made about video games. But here are some exceptions that you can stream right now.
Released at the beginning of the 2010s boom in independent game publishing, this documentary profiles a trio of designers as they struggle to put together their latest titles — with minimal teams or simply on their own. Directed by James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot, it's a great primer on how game design incorporates both aesthetic and technical concerns. It also has one of the best original scores of any documentary to come out in recent years.
The Twitter Account Tracking Geneva Conventions Violations in Video Games
Twitter is a hellscape, but it's also full of a lot of very funny people running very subversive accounts answering the important questions of the day in the world of video games. For example, can you pet the dog? How come everything always gets compared to Dark Souls ?
And then there's Can You Violate The Geneva Conventions , run by the satirical leftist publication Hard Drive , which VICE Games profiled last year . That account looks at games and attempts to answer a basic question: which games let you commit some war crimes?

'Rainbow Six Siege' update adds to game's content and complexity - The Washington Post
At the Six Invitational 2018, "Rainbow Six Siege" developer Ubisoft announced an ambitious plan: The developer wanted to put 100 operators in the game over 10 years of dedicated support. On Sunday, now five years into that 10-year vision, Ubisoft continued that effort by adding a host of new features for its new Crimson Heist campaign, including a new operator with a new gadget and a new secondary gun that fires a single explosive round.
At the time of its 2018 proclamation, Siege was already a complicated, nuanced game. Now, the combination of the massive size and sheer number of maps, compared to other tactical shooters, alongside a cadre of 59 unique operators, each with their own specified class and gadgets, make it a daunting task to jump into as a new player. And it appears it will only become more so.

Video Game Studios in Texas Shut Down due to Winter Storms
As an unprecedented snowstorm continue to spread throughout Texas, many communities are struggling to adapt, including the video game industry. Many studios in the area, including giants like Electronic Arts , have now been forced to shut down due to power outages.
Due to the storm, Texas ordered a statewide blackout to ensure that the power grid does not collapse. Some of the studios that have been affected by these regulations are EA, Aspyr Media, Certain Affinity, and Owlchemy Labs , which have all halted operations in Texas for the week, according to statements received by Kotaku. This, in turn, forced many people to work from home.
