GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Hot starts to all three sets fuels Randolph to sweep of Cambria-Friesland |

RANDOLPH — Off to the races, as the saying goes. But Randolph's prep girls volleyball team didn't exactly run away and hide.

The Rockets had little trouble getting out to big early leads in all three sets Monday night against Cambria-Friesland, but their own inability to keep the foot pressed firmly on the gas pedal plus the Hilltoppers' unwillingness to simply fold up shop made for a more modest 25-13, 25-14, 25-15, Trailways West Conference victory for Randolph.

Welch girls’ case gets new attention via book - News - The Miami News-Record - Miami, OK

Busick received a 10-year sentence as well as a five-year suspended sentence Monday, Aug. 31 at the Craig County Courthouse.

But numerous searches over the years, including two of an old root cellar near Picher in August, did not recover remains of the girls.

“What drew me to the case was that I saw potential for a story. I came at it from a story-telling point of view because I thought it was stranger than fiction, had a lot of plot twists, and was rich in character…all the makings of a good story. But that said, I think I was very naïve coming into it because I didn’t anticipate forming the friendships and relationships I have over the years. And I didn’t anticipate becoming so immersed in the story.

Valley volleyball claims first win, sweeps LaFayette - Valley Times-News | Valley Times-News

The Valley Rams volleyball team started out hot and rode the momentum from a lopsided first set for their first win of the season, sweeping LaFayettte in straight sets.

"These girls have been working so hard. I almost cried," Rams head coach Madyson Brown said. "I'm almost speechless right now because we don't go in prepared to win. We just don't know what's going to happen. A lot of these girls are new to the program. A lot have never played before, so we're trying to adapt to the whole game. It meant a lot to us."
