During the coronavirus pandemic, gamers around the world have pulled out old systems, games on their wish lists and titles they were on the fence about to try to break from the monotony of quarantine.

The staff at ESPN is no different. From NBA editors with setups any gamer would be jealous of to advertising folks who are playing through every single Final Fantasy , there's a lot of variety and passion for gaming here that has shown itself more and more over the past few months.

More Resignations, but No Sign Yet of a Change in Gaming Culture - The New York Times

First, a popular esports tournament was canceled. Next, top gaming studio executives stepped down. Then, a prominent talent management agency for video game streamers laid off its employees and closed.

So few expect the resignations this time to quickly change a culture that for decades has often been hostile to women.

The most extensive action has come at the talent agency Online Performers Group. The agency's former chief executive, Omeed Dariani, was accused in June by Molly Fender Ayala, a community developer for the game Overwatch, of acting inappropriately toward her and propositioning her for sex in 2014. Mr. Dariani stepped down from his role the same day that Ms. Ayala came forward. He did not respond to a request for comment, and Ms. Ayala declined to comment.

Gamasutra: Morgan Baker's Blog - Deaf Accessibility in Video Games

According to the World Health Organization (2016), over 360 million people in the world have mild to profound hearing loss. To narrow down further, approximately 48 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss. That is roughly 15% of the population who are hard of hearing or deaf. And that’s a lot.

Within the video game industry, we strive for players of all backgrounds to enjoy our games, including but not limited to those who are d/Deaf and hard of hearing (d/Deaf/HoH). So how can we make our games more accessible?

St. Louis Blues: Video Game Culture Might Be Team's Saving Grace

As we near the time for the St. Louis Blues to move to Edmonton for what we hope will be a month or two, they are hoping to get all their positive tests out of the way now and go into the bubble with a clean bill of health. The Blues and all the NHL teams participating in this tournament will have to hope their players are focused on hockey alone.
