Before the pandemic, that meant the nonprofit for the empowerment of young women — run by girls for girls — always asked, "Where do you need us?" and made it a mission to be there.
Now, Ophelia's Place can be found at home, too, as drop-in hours, therapy and an assortment of programs move online.

Mai Khôi started out as the Communist Party of Vietnam’s sweetheart, until she began to feel a disconnect between her personal values and those she was singing about. She then changed her tune, using her voice to speak out against the government on issues such as censorship and corruption. Her music is now banned in Vietnam, and Khôi has since been compared to the likes of Lady Gaga and Russia’s Pussy Riot.

Girl Band are selling signed screen-printed posters in aid of MASI | Hotpress
As the controversy surrounding the Direct Provision system continues to mount, Girl Band have launched a limited run of signed, screen-printed posters on their webstore – with all profits from the sales going to MASI (The Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland).
The posters were designed by Damien Tran for Girl Band's 2019 European and UK Tour – which included two Vicar Street gigs.
Following their much-welcomed return with The Talkies and a stellar run of headline shows last year, Girl Band were scheduled to join fellow Rough Trade labelmates Sleaford Mods for an American tour in April, followed by a headline slot at All Together Now in Waterford this August Bank Holiday – both of which were unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.
