ROCHESTER, N.Y. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — It seems only fitting that a virtual event was held for video games. That’s exactly what happened Thursday when the World Video Game Hall of Fame inducted Bejeweled, Centipede, King’s Quest and Minecraft in a virtual ceremony that recognized their influence on the industry and the gamers who have spent tens of billions of hours playing them.
The hall of fame’s Class of 2020 was chosen from a field of 12 finalists that also included Frogger, Goldeneye 007, Guitar Hero, NBA Jam, Nokia Snake, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Uncharted 2, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Blazers star Damian Lillard is a known die-hard boxing fan. In March, he even made a public plea for a new boxing video game to be made for the latest consoles. Given this, it'd be extremely fun to face off with Lillard in the classic boxing game mode on the original Wii Sports.

Michael Chapman works at Contender E-Sports here in Springfield, he says he’s happy video games are being seen in a better light.
“We’ve been saying at Contender for a long time that gaming has been a positive force for kids and adults,” said Chapman. “We love the communities we see here when people come in, when they come together. We’ve always seen the social aspects. It’s great to see a more scientific approach and some more benefits proven. Even above and beyond what we’ve always said what’s great about video games and video game culture.”

It will likely be some time next year when people can first ride the rail in Honolulu, but meanwhile you can play a video game you helped pay for.
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation tells Always Investigating that making a video game is well within their obligation for youth outreach. After playing the game, many are left scratching their heads about its purpose.
Something unusual caught KHON2's attention when browsing through recent uploads on the rail authority’s document filing website: a “running game” in a new folder called “video game."

I know a lot of people that like baseball. I grew up around Boston, which is obviously a sports-centric city, and as a sports fan I obviously became friends with a lot of sports fans. I don't know a lot of people that love baseball in the same way I know people that love football or love basketball. When I tell people what I do or even simply that baseball is my favorite sport, the reaction is usually something along the lines of, "Really?" On individual bases, that's fine.
So when I think about all of this stuff, I think back to how I became so obsessed with baseball, and really sports in general. But more specifically baseball. There are the obvious answers, being that I played it, and that I grew up in a family where sports were always on TV and in the summer months that means baseball was on every night, and that Pedro Martínez was in his prime during my formative years as a fan, and that it was my brother's favorite sport and I copied him.

Full disclaimer - I was the faculty sponsor for e-sports for two years at the high school where I work. I may be a little biased here - the tournaments my kids set up were small and local, and honestly 95% Smash Bros. They were disorganized and a hot mess sometimes, because that's what happens when you have a bunch of teenagers planning things.
They brought the kids together, though. The tournaments helped the kids understand how to plan events, gave them an outlet for marketing creativity on open house nights, and gave them a place to hang out once a week. Unfortunately, my workload this year caused me to drop a few things so I could focus on teaching a new class, and e-sports went. It made me sad to give it up.
