Video games and mindfulness would seem polar opposites, but an Oak Lawn Community High School social worker has found a way to combine the two to offer his students a virtual mental health aid.
Salvador Montes has been streaming feeds from games such as Spider-Man and Destiny 2 on twitch.tv for a handful of students while integrating mindfulness concepts into the mix. He said using mindfulness as a guided meditation, as well as deep breathing, helped students who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
