Top tier video games have always been tricky things to fund. In today's market, they often require millions of dollars upfront and over a year's worth of development. That being said there is more than one way to get a game funded. Three games, Homeworld 3, Citizen Star, and Infinite Fleet have all turned to crowdsourcing to help with funding. One of them has put a new spin on crowdfunding that could change the industry for the better.
Out of these three games, Citizen Star is earning the most from its crowdfunding at over 280 million and counting. Homeworld 3 raised about 1.5 million and does not plan to ask for anymore at this time. Infinite Fleet has just chosen its funding platform which is very different from the others. So different that it could permanently change crowdfunding for video games. Below is a chart showing the progress that these games have made in their funding. Check back for updates.

Early on, Delventhal , knowing that cats play in part to hunt, thought a key differentiator for "Mew and Me," especially when compared to other apps for pets, would be to make it as realistic as possible. Think of it as sort of an interactive YouTube for birds. Only instead of a cat watching the screen like a window, a cat could interact.

The success of the Nintendo Switch during the coronavirus pandemic propelled the Japanese video company to a banner year.
Nintendo said on Thursday that it made 352 billion yen ($3.3 billion) in operating profit for the fiscal year ended in March — a 41% surge from a year ago, and the highest in nine years. Profit in the three months to March more than tripled compared with the previous quarter.
Sales were driven this spring in large part by the breakout success of " Animal Crossing: New Horizons ," a game set on an island utopia. The company sold more than 13 million units of the game in its first six weeks of release.

New Xbox Series X gameplay unveiled at Xbox digital event: Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Madden NFL
On Thursday, Xbox showed off Xbox Series X gameplay for 13 next generation titles, including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and DiRT 5, at the fittingly-titled "First Look at Xbox Series X Gameplay" digital event.
All of the games shown off during today's event promise to be Xbox Series X Optimized, boasting 4K resolution, up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times and ray tracing , among other features. Moreover, several of the games will take advantage of the Smart Delivery feature , which means that if you buy that game for Xbox, it will work on any version of the console.
