Ventilator from old car parts? Afghan girls pursue prototype
KABUL, Afghanistan — On most mornings, Somaya Farooqi and four other teenage girls pile into her dad's car and head to a mechanic's workshop. They use back roads to skirt police checkpoints set up to enforce a lockdown in their city of Herat, one of Afghanistan's hot spots of the coronavirus pandemic.
After the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, girls returned to schools, but gaining equal rights remains a struggle. Farooqi is undaunted. "We are the new generation," she said in a phone interview. "We fight and work for people. Girl and boy, it does not matter anymore."

I've just been writing and we set up a little studio in here. So, you know, we're going to have new music for when we can go back outside ."

I am a small business owner. There apparently were unintended consequences with the increased unemployment and stimulus pay. Our part-time workers, who wanted only part-time, are making more money sitting at home and doing nothing. My company cannot survive this

Thanks to the Fenton firefighters for their poster of support they gave the North LeRoy Street VG's. It means the world to us.
I WISH ALL grocery shoppers, including those wearing masks, would stay 6 feet away and obey the one-way arrows. I'm ashamed to say it, but all the violators I saw were older men.
