Open World presents the work of 23 national and international artists. In addition to painting, drawing, and sculpture, the exhibition will also highlight animation, playable video games, game modifications, and immersive game-based performances and interventions. The exhibition will open at the Currier Museum on March 21 with a day full of tours and artmaking activities for the whole family. It will be on view through June 28, 2020.

CNN) — One of the last known copies of a video game console that never came to market, the Nintendo Play Station, sold for $360,000 at auction.
Video game collector Greg McLemore, who founded Pets.com and Toys.com during the dot-com boom, won the console, outbidding other collectors including Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey.
McLemore’s collection includes coin-operated arcade games like Atari’s “Pong,” which is the first commercially successful video game.
Around Brooklyn: Professor writes books about video gaming
A local gamer and professor has already made his mark in the literary video game world with a successful book, according to the Brooklyn Reporter website. Patrick Hickey, who is the assistant director of the journalism program at Kingsborough Community College, released "The Minds Behind the Games: Interviews with Cult and Classic Video Games" and recently completed a sequel, "The Minds Behind Adventure Games.

After some protests, restaurateurs Toby Cecchini and Joel Tompkins of the Long Island Bar on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill have removed the "Ladies' Burger" from their menu, according to New York Eater. The burger is the same as the restaurant's signature Long Island Burger, only smaller. It has been replaced with an option to order a single-patty burger. Some customers have been criticizing the name of the smaller burger as being "sexist" and "humiliating," New York Eater said.

'The Last of Us' on HBO and PlayStation Productions hint at Sony's new video game
The PlayStation Cinematic Universe may not be that catchy, or even correct, but something like it is on the way. Sony announced as much in its statements Thursday about its upcoming HBO production of the award-winning The Last of Us game .
"This is the first of many shows we intend to develop with our friends at PlayStation Productions," said Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios.
PlayStation Productions launched last spring. Unlike the TV/film divisions of other video game studios, PlayStation would have direct production control, with distribution assistance from Sony Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter . PlayStation Productions studio head Asad Qizilbash told THR he's sought advice and consultation with various other studios, including Marvel/Disney's own Kevin Feige, who engineered the unprecedented blockbuster success of the Marvel films.
Nashville Expands Music Offerings to Movies, Video Games
Nashville, Tennessee is already known to many Americans as Music City. It is famous for country music in the United States and is home to many recording companies.
But recently, music recorded for video games, television shows and movies could earn Nashville a new name: Soundtrack City.
Also, more production companies have been bringing their film and TV soundtrack recordings to Nashville, including Netflix, Showtime, Sony and Focus Features. A program the state of Tennessee established last year gives financial support to companies for doing business in the city.

Some of the world's rarest and most sought after video game artifacts are in Dallas, but they won't be in town for long because they are going up for auction to the highest bidders.
"The market before we stepped in was still very strong," says Valerie McLeckie, the consignment director of video games for Heritage Auctions. "There was a lot of potential there, so we wanted to get involved."
