Columbus High girls basketball had lost four-straight games headed into Thursday's road test against Lexington.
The Discoverers (6-15) corrected course, shooting 6 of 17 from behind the arc in a 41-30 victory. Lexington (2-19) only made two 3-pointers.
As a team, CHS shot 17 of 40 (43 percent) from the field compared to just 12 of 37 for (37 percent) Lexington. The Discoverers also out rebounded the Minutemaids 31-19. Columbus started hot then rode that momentum to the finish line.

The Benson girls basketball team is one of the hottest teams in the area, having gone 8-2 in its last 10 games, including five of its last six. The Braves beat Paynesville (72-52), ACGC (58-40), and Minnewaska area (50--43) last week, giving Benson a 12-9 overall record and 6-7 conference mark heading into its final five games of the season.
During last week's action, Clarie Ricard became the fifth girl at BHS to reach 1,000 career points during the win over Paynesville.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTAJ) -- It was a match-up of two Penn State alums at Audi Field in Washington D.C. New York Guardians quarterback Matt McGloin was on one sideline, while D.C. Defenders wide receiver De'Andre Thompkins was on the other.
However, the game went very differently for both players. New York Guardians week one star Matt McGloin was absolutely horrendous against the Defenders. McGloin completed five of 13 passes, for 44 yards and two interceptions, one of them being returned for a pick six.
