Amazon Echo Buds review: These true wireless earbuds sound as good as AirPods and cost less - CNET

Luckily, you can access Alexa manually as a backup. The Echo Buds have touch controls and you can program the left and right buds to perform such tasks as advancing a track forward or back and accessing your phone's voice assistant or Alexa by double-tapping or tapping and holding! Introducing Echo Buds - Amazon .com www. amazon .com Wireless earbuds with immersive sound, active noise reduction, and Alexa!! I found the touch controls responsive, but some people may be put off by the fact that there are no volume controls on the buds themselves! Videos for Amazon Echo Buds Review : These True 2:19 Amazon Echo Buds hands-on YouTube!! Like with the AirPods, you have to use voice controls to raise and lower volume or use the controls on your phone.

As for sound quality, while it wasn't fantastic, it was good (again, a tight seal makes a big difference). There's a presence boost (treble push) at the default setting, but the earphones have decent clarity and Amazon says they're equipped with Knowles dual balanced armature drivers! How scary music makes movies scarier - CBS News

Imagine the 1973 horror movie "The Exorcist" without its ominous score. Would "Psycho" be the same without Bernard Herrmann's music? It's no surprise that a good scare and a good score go hand-in-hand.

DiBucci agreed to reveal to correspondent David Pogue some of the tool composers use to frighten us, like notes that clash, or low, droning notes.

* * *

He said that sometimes spooky music works by resembling sounds that trigger our fight-or-flight response ... footsteps coming up from behind you?

"We know that the brain is responding to that by activating those brain areas that are going to be involved in protecting you," Lacagnina said.

Pogues asked, "Something that is high, dissonant and screeching might suggest something in our unconscious that is screaming, and that of course makes us panicky?"

We're all Earthgang | The Tech

Earthgang is the stage name of a pair of rappers, Olu and WowGr8. Known for their off-center sound and lyricism, the two have earned a large audience and have collaborated with big names in hip hop like J. Cole. To kick off the release of their latest album, Mirrorland , Earthgang came to Middle East in Cambridge to perform.

The first act of the show was Benji. With just over 2 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, he's pretty unknown, but after watching his performance, I'm definitely going to check him out. His regular street clothes matched the informality of his short set, during which he playfully joked with the audience and dapped up the people in the front. It was clear he was still a bit of a rookie; he didn't necessarily do anything special, and he did have a pretty underwhelming beat drop in one of his songs after hyping it up to the audience. But he did perform a variety of songs that I could see myself chilling to in the future, with a lyrical sound somewhere between Chance the Rapper and Aminé.

How I discovered a dozen new Lou Reed songs - The Washington Post

With Lou Reed's wavering tenor and jangling guitar ringing in my ears, I stared down at the cassette tape in my hand. Was it possible I had really discovered an unknown Reed album? I was at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, in July 2017, doing research for a book about Warhol's relationships with, and influence on, musicians in the 1970s — and listening to any tape I could find that had something about music on it. The collection contains thousands of tapes, and I'd heard all kinds of things on them, from Warhol's gossipy dinner conversations about rock stars to bootleg recordings of Led Zeppelin and Elton John concerts. Warhol taped everything.

But this tape was different, and it wasn't labeled, as most were, in Warhol's handwriting. The initials "A.W." were scrawled on the first side, and "Philosophy Songs (from A to B and Back)" on the second.

Quite a lot has been going on:

The AMC Dine In theater at the Fashion District opens Nov. 4. Here's what it has to offer.

Good news, movie buffs in Center City and nearby areas — you won't have to go to a parking lot far, far away to be able to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in a posh theater augmented by the latest in laser projection and digital sound.

Nor will you have to go to suburban tundra to see Frozen 2 and hear Idina Menzel sing "Into the Unknown" over 64 individual Dolby speakers that hurl hundreds of bits of digital audio info at each viewer.

Starting Monday, you'll be able to see most of the holiday season's blockbuster features while immersed in state-of-the-art exhibition technology (and possibly also beer and chicken flatbread pizza), at the new AMC Dine In Fashion District 8, hovering over the corner of 11th and Market Streets, up on the third level, two flights up from the Yards kiosk, three flights up from a Chick-fil-A.
