UFO videos of mysterious aircraft spotted by military pilots are real, US Navy says | The

Videos said to have been captured by US fighter pilots and purporting to show UFOs are real military records of unexplained aerial encounters, the US Navy has reportedly said.

The provenance, content and validity of the footage had been subject to significant debate during its circulation online over a number of years.

In some of the footage, an unknown object was seen to accelerate at apparently impossible speeds – "like nothing I've ever seen", said one – and perform manoeuvres outside the capabilities of current American aircraft.

But earlier this year the US Navy unveiled new ways for its pilots to report UAP encounters, which it admitted had become increasingly frequent.

"We want to get to the bottom of this. We need to determine who's doing it, where it's coming from and what their intent is. We need to try to find ways to prevent it from happening again."

UFO sightings: U.S. Navy drafts guidelines to report - The Washington Post

A recent uptick in sightings of unidentified flying objects — or as the military calls them, "unexplained aerial phenomena" — prompted the Navy to draft formal procedures for pilots to document encounters, a corrective measure that former officials say is long overdue.

As first reported by POLITICO , these intrusions have been happening on a regular basis since 2014. Recently, unidentified aircraft have entered military-designated airspace as often as multiple times per month, Joseph Gradisher, spokesman for office of the deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, told The Washington Post on Wednesday.

UFO sightings: The top 5 states where the aliens are flying through

That's one way, anyway, to interpret the results from a new report on the states with the most unidentified flying object sightings per capita! Videos for UFO Videos Of Mysterious Aircraft 0:53 UFO videos of mysterious aircraft spotted by military pilots are real, US Navy says Facebook!! Washington state topped that list, followed in order by Montana, Vermont, Alaska and Maine.

So much for Roswell, New Mexico, or the lonely Nevada desert. New Mexico came in 8th on the list; Nevada, 13th.

Meanwhile, the states with the fewest UFO sightings per capita — Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama -- are all down South.

The list was put together by the analysts and space nerds at internet provider SatelliteInternet.com , which culled data from the National UFO Reporting Center and the U.S. Census, to attract attention in time for World UFO Day on July 2. (Yep, there is such a day.)

UFO sightings are on rise in western Pennsylvania - The Morning Call

While the Kecksburg UFO sighting has become a quaint part of local lore, more recent reports of unexplained aerial phenomena are getting serious attention from Congress, the U.S. military and longtime UFO watchers.

"It's not going away," retired journalist Bob Gatty said. "Whether you believe or don't believe in this stuff, the fact remains there is a lot happening for some reason."

Gatty, who originally reported on the Kecksburg incident for the Tribune-Review in 1965, recently noted on his blog NotFakeNews.biz that the Navy issued new guidelines to fighter pilots regarding UFO sightings, and members of Congress are seeking more frequent briefings on the subject.

Meanwhile, longtime local UFO researcher Stan Gordon said there has been a "surge" in sightings of unexplained phenomena in western Pennsylvania — whether extraterrestrial or not.

The 'Unifying Nature' Of Clouds: Take A Tour Of The Sky With The Cloud Appreciation Society |

Founded in 2005, the group — which is comprised of more than 48,000 cloud marvellers and spans 120 countries — are everyday people on the lookout for "weird clouds," founder Gavin Pretor-Pinney says.

They've even helped the World Meteorological Organization to acknowledge a new type of cloud called asperitas — wavy, thick clouds that resemble snorkeling underwater on a turbulent day, Pretor-Pinney describes.

* * *

For a cloud's name to be official in the meteorological world, he says, it has to be published in the atlas.

High clouds, such as altostratus or cirrus, are made from small ice crystals of water, he says, while low clouds, such as cumulus, are made from tiny droplets of water.

"Typical cumulus clouds are low clouds you see on sunny days. If you add together all the droplets — [it's the] same weight as 80 elephants — they're really heavy in terms of the water but they're in the form of tiny droplets so they all stay aloft in the air," he says.
