Manton girls edge Reed City for title | Sports | cadillacnews.com

MANISTEE — Manton edged Reed City by two points to take first in the Chris Grabowski Cross Country Invitational on Thursday.

The Rangers were first with 50 points while the Coyotes were second at 52, Ludington third at 69, Buckley ninth at 232 and Lake City 11th at 263.

"Our girls haven't been close to Reed City yet this year," Manton coach Jeff Harding said. "Despite the unseasonably warm day, our kids all competed really well.

"They were aggressive right from the gun and got out well. With the end of the season approaching, the kids are already starting to show their end-of-season form."

Molly Harding took fourth in 22:11, Paige Swiriduk fifth in 22:17, Emily Harding 10th in 22:52, Chloe Colton 13th in 22:59 and Phoebe McBride 18th in 23:27.

For the Coyotes, Abbi Kiaunis took first in 20:33, Taylor Harrison third in 21:59, Paige Lofquist 12th in 22:57, Nora Smoes16th in 23:16 and Olivia Lewis 20th in 23:35.

Parents push for girls volleyball team in Loyalsock schools | News, Sports, Jobs - Williamsport

A small group of parents took their case for bringing girls’ volleyball to the Loyalsock Township School District to the board at their meeting Wednesday.

In a prepared statement, the group requested the board consider adding a middle and high school girls’ volleyball team to the sports schedule for the 2020 fall season.

A group of interested girls has formed an Amateur Athletic Union volleyball club so they can practice. The group at the meeting also requested permission to use district facilities for practicing as the winter months approach.

The parents shared that last year about 35 girls had expressed an interest in participating in a school volleyball team. Their current AAU team has a roster of 17 girls who have been meeting and practicing weekly for about seven weeks! SCHOOL SPORTS ROUNDUP: It's another tie for Portsmouth girls soccer team - Sports - The

Portsmouth and Burrillville each came into Wednesday's Division I match in Portsmouth without a win, and they each went home without one as the teams played to a 1-1 tie on a windy Wednesday night.

Burrillville scored in the opening half before junior Katherine McGraw, off an assist from Mary Camara, tallied the game-tying goal for the Patriots in the second half. Gabby Schenck made 10 saves as Portsmouth went to 0-6-5. Burrillville moved to 0-10-1.

It was the third straight 1-1 outcome for the Patriots, who have played four such games and one scoreless tie in league competition! High School Sports Roundup and Schedules: Camp Hill girls soccer captures Mid-Penn Capital title

Mifflin County (2-13) jumped out to an early lead, but back-to-back goals later in the first half put Mechanicsburg (6-9-1) on top for good in a 2-1 Wildcat victory.

Reese Carter put the Huskies on the board in the 18th minute before Jackson Rioux and Drew Engle each found the back of the net to give the Wildcats the lead that they would hold for the rest of the contest.

Cumberland Valley (14-2) had no problems handling Mid-Penn Commonwealth opponent Red Land (7-9-1) Thursday as the Eagles blanked the Patriots, 6-0.

A pair of goals late in the second half broke a stalemate and lifted Northern (13-3-1) to a 4-2 victory over Mid-Penn Colonial foe Shippensburg (9-7-1).

The contest was knotted 2-2 late into the second half, but Sheppard Soisson and Nate Spuler scored goals in the 74th and 75th minutes to seal the Polar Bear victory.
