NASA news: Space agency reveals futuristic Moon landing spacesuits - 'Not for the meek'

To ensure the mission’s success, NASA has designed a new generation of futuristic spacesuits.

NASA said: “At first glance, NASA’s new spacesuit that will be worn on Artemis missions might look like the suits that astronauts use for spacewalks outside the International Space Station (ISS) today.

“However, 21st-century moonwalkers will be able to accomplish much more complex tasks than their predecessors, thanks to strides in technological advances that started even before the Apollo program.

“Spacesuits are not only a classic icon of human space exploration, they are also a personalised spaceship that mimics all of the protections from the harsh environment of space and the basic resources that Earth and its atmosphere provide.”

Was A Hole In The Space Station 'Done By A Human Hand'? Russian Space Agency Refuses To Tell NASA

The Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft is pictured docked to the Rassvet module on the Russian segment of the International Space Station as the orbital complex was flying 253 miles above the North Pacific Ocean south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands.

What could be worse than being 250 miles above Earth in orbit only to realize that the spacecraft you're in is losing oxygen?

That's what happened on the International Space Station (ISS) back in August 2018, and though the leak was quickly fixed, it could have caused a total loss of air in just 18 days.

Now a row has broken out about the incident, with hints that Russian space agency Roscosmos now knows the cause of the leak, but will keep it secret from NASA, its main partner at the ISS.

NASA, Space X resolve conflicts of contract tensions - The Washington Post

HAWTHORNE, Calif. — NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine stopped by SpaceX's headquarters here Thursday. He toured the factory with SpaceX founder Elon Musk, took a spin in a spacecraft simulator, then met with the media afterward, smiling for the cameras.

* * *

It was a long scheduled visit, but one that suddenly had a different dynamic after Bridenstine publicly chastised SpaceX as it was preparing to unveil a next-generation spacecraft known as Starship to take people to the moon and Mars. At the time, Bridenstine was frustrated that the company appeared to be spending a lot of time and energy on developing Starship, when it was behind on building the capsule to ferry NASA's astronauts to the International Space Station under what's known as the "commercial crew program."

On Twitter, Bridenstine took a shot at the company, saying NASA "expects to see the same level of enthusiasm focused on the investments of the American taxpayer! Crowded Space Station: There Are 9 People from 4 Different Space Agencies in Orbit Right Now |

It's a busy week at the International Space Station (ISS). With nine crewmembers currently on board, the orbiting laboratory will be unusually crowded until Thursday (Oct. 3), when three of those crewmembers are scheduled to return to Earth.

While the ISS is usually staffed by three to six astronauts and cosmonauts, there have been nine crewmembers on board the space laboratory since last Wednesday (Sept. 25), when the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft arrived with three new crewmembers! NASA Mars bombshell: Space agency astronaut reveals ...bombshell- space - ...reveals ...NASA Mars bombshell : Space agency astronaut reveals 'greatest obstacles' for Mars mission Posted on September 7, 2019 NASA hopes to have humans on Mars before 2040 as space exploration reaches new and incredible levels.!! This isn't a permanent set-up; part of the reason there are so many humans in space right now has to do with overlap in crew assignments.

Nine is certainly not the highest number of people ever stationed on the space lab. The record for the largest population on the ISS was set in 2009, when there were 13 people on board. The last time there were nine people on board was in 2015, during NASA astronaut Scott Kelly's " Year in Space " mission.
