Cause of smoke coming from Golden Ray cargo ship still unknown | firstcoastnews.com

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Crews are monitoring the capsized Golden Ray cargo ship around the clock after white smoke was seen coming from the ship on Sunday.

The ship remains in the St. Simons Sound more than a month after it overturned Sept. 8 and its crew members were rescued.

The source of the smoke from the Golden Ray is unknown, but many fishermen in the area are still curious about it and how the ship capsized in the first place.

"Nobody really knows what happened except who was on the ship," fisherman Dave Capano said. "All I know is the pilot did the right thing grounding it where it is."

Fletcher Sams, executive director of the Altamaha Riverkeeper says volunteers watched the response closely.

"They scrambled air assets and they were on scene within the first hour of the ship," Sams said. "When we arrived, they were spraying seawater on the surface of the ship to cool it off."

Morgan Stanley sounds a cautious note despite beating profit expectations - The Globe and Mail

Morgan Stanley reported a higher-than-expected profit on Thursday, bolstered by strength in bond trading and M&A advisory, but executives were careful not to sound too optimistic about the rest of the year.

Like other big banks, Morgan Stanley had to navigate falling interest rates, volatile markets and recession signals during the third quarter, and fared relatively well. Its overall profit rose 3 per cent, topping Wall Street expectations by a healthy margin.

However, the factors that created such a difficult operating environment during the quarter have not gone away, chief executive James Gorman and chief financial officer Jonathan Pruzan said on a call to discuss earnings.

They suggested the trade dispute between the United States and China, further central bank easing, an unknown Brexit outcome and other geopolitical tensions could pressure results further! Review of Gary Richards' All My Friend Music Festival 2019 | Billboard

In its second year, Gary Richards' All My Friends Festival held its numbers steady from its inaugural year, bringing in 10,000 attendees over two days this past weekend, October 19-20, at Row DTLA dcomplex in downtown Los Angeles.

AMF DTLA pared last year’s three stages down to two, a move that made the location much easier to navigate -- as last year it was a chore to run around the circuit attempting to catch all the great talent. (Although the drawback this year was some sound bleed between stages.) This year’s hours were shortened, with the festival starting at 6 p.m. rather than 4 p.m. and still ending at midnight! 2:23 Experts believe cargo fire may have caused smoke to rise from Golden Ray in St. Simons Sound YouTube!! Additionally, AMF 2019 moved from August to October -- and in fact to the weekend directly following Insomniac Events’ similarly marketed house and techno-centric festival, Secret Project.

TU Dance presents strong works new to Minneapolis - StarTribune.com

TU Dance's performance at the O'Shaughnessy this past weekend wasn't quite as flashy as the company's collaboration with Bon Iver, which has kept the company busy touring around the country since the 2018. It also wasn't as sublime as its spring performance of works by Alvin Ailey and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar! 0:19 The Unified Command responded to the overturned Golden Ray cargo ship after white smoke was seen MSN!! But the concert did offer a couple of strong works never before seen in Minneapolis.

"Something Amber," originally commissioned by Alonzo King Lines Ballet Training Program, began the program and was the highlight of the night! It began in darkness to the sound of strings playing a long, sustained note. As the lights gradually lit the ensemble, the dancers moved like seaweed! Their arms floated above them, their bodies fluidly rising and falling.

The second piece in the program, "Clear as Tear Water," originally was created by Ronald K. Brown for TU Co-Artistic Director Toni Pierce-Sands, who danced in its premiere in 2005. It's a juicy solo, and Taylor Collier performed the piece with fortitude. There were flashes of traumatic history in the work: a slave with her arms tied behind her back, for instance. In another moment, a woman hunched over in backbreaking labor. We also see the central character exude power and strength, buoyed by those that came before her. There was a sense of renewal, even rebirth, particularly in its final moments, when Collier was doused with a stream of water, baptized in water and light.
