Indonesia's newest billionaire after mysterious stock surge | The Star Online

SINGAPORE (Bloomberg): Ask Nico Purnomo Po about the world-beating stock rally that turned him into Indonesia's latest billionaire, and he'll tell you the market is rewarding his property company's ability to complete big projects in prime locations.

"There were concerns before about whether we could execute what we had promised to customers, but we've proven ourselves," Po, 37, the chief operating officer and controlling shareholder of PT Pollux Properti Indonesia, said in an interview.

Other market observers aren't so sure. To them, Pollux Properti's more than 500 per cent gain since mid-July looks like the latest example of a thinly traded stock surging way ahead of fundamentals.

The rally, by far the biggest among more than 4,700 shares in the Bloomberg World Index, has lifted Pollux Properti's valuation to 34 times net assets, 10 times higher than the industry average in Indonesia! Ramesh Ponnuru: There's nothing mysterious about Republicans' support of Trump - Opinion

Based on the number of articles written about them, two of the great questions of our time are: Why do Republicans stick with Donald Trump? And what happened to all the "Never Trump" people? In recent days, The New York Times has published items about each of them.

The issues where Trump has broken with previous Republican leaders, meanwhile, are ones on which Republican voters don't have deep convictions! 'Brushing' scam delivers mysterious packages to doorsteps - National News - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) — What would you think if dozens of Amazon packages you didn't order showed up on your doorstep — addressed to you?

It might sound like Christmas came early, but the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning it's actually part of a scam called "Amazon brushing" intended to falsely inflate online reviews.

One North Carolina man told the NBC Charlotte Defenders team he's been getting nearly 30 packages a week since July and had no idea why.

But the perplexed recipients said the site isn't able to actually put a stop to the deliveries, and they're starting to feel boxed in.

Further, the BBB warns, "The fact that someone was able to have the items sent to you as if you purchased them indicates that they probably have some of your Amazon account information."

Mysterious Oil Spill Becomes New Environmental Crisis for Brazil - The New York Times

RIO DE JANEIRO — A mysterious oil spill that has polluted shores along a vast area of Brazil's northeast may have resulted from unspecified criminal activity, and a foreign country could be responsible, President Jair Bolsonaro said Tuesday.

An estimated 100 tons of crude has drifted toward land since early September, polluting some of the country's most pristine beaches and forcing Brazilian officials to grapple with yet another environmental crisis. The government has already come under close scrutiny, and heavy criticism, after an unusually intense season of forest fires in the Amazon.

Now, oil has been spotted on at least 132 beaches affecting 61 municipalities in nine states, the country's Environment Ministry said.

Officials have said the state oil company, Petrobras, is not responsible for the spill and that the crude is neither produced in nor exported to Brazil.
