
A singer who once battled for a recording contract on “ American Ido l⁘ is now facing some seriously troubling charges.
Randy Madden , who appeared on the well-known singing contest show in 2008, is facing six felony charges stemming from a sexual encounter with a minor, according to TMZ.
Madden, 45, was charged Monday in California, per online records obtained by PEOPLE . The charges come from at least one alleged sexual encounter between July and September of this year.
The charges include unlawful sexual intercourse, anal and genital penetration by a foreign object, oral copulation of a person under 18, sending harmful matter and luring and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.
Madden was booked by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 30 and was released Tuesday after posting a $100,000 bail.
Madden auditioned for season 8 of “American Idol,” performing Bon Jovi's “Livin' on a Prayer.” He did not receive any “yes” votes from the judges.
Madden's Instagram bio displays a link or a GoFundMe that was created after a motorcycle accident he endured in 2023 that left him unable to walk without crutches or a cane.
