Two pairs of "showmances," Big Brother 19 's Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf , and Big Brother 23 's Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss , crossed the finish line in first place on Seasons 30 and 34, respectively. Big Brother duos made up a third of The Amazing Race 's 31st season, which pitted all-stars from both shows, plus Survivor , against each other. And Big Brother champ Rachel Reilly , currently back in the house for her third time this summer, also raced around the world three times, making the final leg twice alongside husband Brendon Villegas .

Now, 13 new teams have arrived on the scene to truly find out if The Amazing Race is supposed to be fun and good. There will, however, be some new reality TV blood in the water, as – with one exception – each former houseguest will be racing alongside a loved one. This standout-filled cast of former houseguests includes five people who made the jury, two recipients of the "America's Favorite Houseguest" fan-favorite prize, and three winners.

The new racers will be thrown into the deep end immediately and learn to "expect the unexpected" as, for the first time in Amazing Race history, they'll compete in a task before even beginning the race. The first team to finish the pre-starting line challenge in Amsterdam will receive an Express Pass, which they can use to skip any task at any time. The team that comes in last will face a Hazard, which will force them to complete an additional task to avoid being eliminated first. The Amazing Race 38 will send the teams on an adventure across Europe, as, according to a press release from CBS, they will "reach new heights in Prague, bathe like a king in Budapest and skydive nearly 13,000 feet over Romania."
