Let's talk about whole-house ventilation, shall we? Think of your home as a giant lung. A really dusty, sometimes smelly, lung. Now, that lung needs to breathe, right? Needs to exchange old, stale air for fresh, invigorating breezes. But how do we achieve this sacred act of architectural respiration?
Mechanical ventilation. Not the Borg kind. We're talking about fans. Exhaust fans sucking the bad stuff out of bathrooms and kitchens. Supply fans pushing clean air in. Heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) and energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) are the elite athletes of the ventilation world. They preheat or precool the incoming air, saving you money on energy bills and making your house feel oh-so-comfy.
So, where does your house fall on the ventilation spectrum? Is it a poorly ventilated dungeon, rife with dust mites and off-gassing furniture? Or is it a well-ventilated oasis, with air so fresh you can practically taste the mountain air? The choice, dear reader, is yours. But remember, a well-ventilated home is a happy home.
