If you love American Idol, chances are you⁘ll love LC Idol too. L⁘Anse Creuse Public Schools⁘ Music Program will present its annual 2025 L⁘Anse Creuse Idol and Idol Junior Competition, starting at 7 p.m. March 18 at the John Armstrong Performing Arts Center.
⁘L⁘Anse Creuse Idol is a chance for our middle and high school students to shine in the solo spotlight,⁘ said Ray Sarver, a choir, drama and exploring music teacher at L⁘Anse Creuse Middle School South. ⁘It is wonderful to be able to feature students at a special event like this.⁘
Secondary students from around the district auditioned back in February, and those chosen to move onto this next round of the competition have been practicing for the past month in preparation for their performance.
It⁘s not only an opportunity for students to practice their vocals and performance skills but it gives the community an opportunity to support local talent.
⁘My mom really likes to sing and my dad plays guitar. He used to be in a band. He really helps me a lot with my singing,⁘ O⁘Leary said, before stepping up to a microphone and offering her guest a sample of the song that she⁘ll be performing next Tuesday.
⁘I feel like it⁘s a fun way to express myself and it just really makes me happy,⁘ said the eighth-grader, who is excited about the competition and not just for herself but everyone in the show.
⁘I heard someone is doing a ⁘Wicked⁘ song,⁘ she said. ⁘I really liked the movie. It will be cool to hear it.⁘
The district⁘s first Idol was in 2019 and, other than missing a couple years because of COVID, has been running ever since.
