Davina McCall is set to host a daring new dating show, which promises to give Love Island a run for its money. The upcoming show, Stranded on Honeymoon Island, is slated to hit BBC One and iPlayer later this year and it will challenge newly formed marriages like never before.
It will feature twelve singletons who have had difficulty finding love, paired into couples at a speed dating event in London. In an unexpected twist, each couple will tie the knot and be whisked away to a tropical island for their honeymoon.
However, it's not all sunshine and cocktails. The BBC has hinted that the fresh spouses will be ⁘isolated and pitted against the forces of nature⁘ on secluded beaches, facing unforeseen challenges.
⁘Fledgling relationships are soon put to the test as the couples live out their honeymoon together and fend for themselves with few resources,⁘ the BBC revealed.
Davina is no stranger to matchmaking, having previously led StreetMate, Singled Out, and most recently, My Mum, Your Dad so this time around she will serve as both the host and guide for the newlywed couples.
Speaking about the show, Davina said: ⁘I am a serial matchmaker... So I jumped at the chance to host the BBC's new dating show. I can't wait to meet our couples and find out how they get on when they're Stranded on Honeymoon Island.
For some it will be challenging and others, idyllic!!! Hopefully it's the start of some very beautiful relationships.⁘
BBC's Head of Entertainment, Kalpna Patel-Knight, praised McCall as ⁘the ideal addition to this bold and innovative dating reality show⁘ and described her as ⁘the perfect guide for viewers as the couples embark on the love story of a lifetime⁘.
