In the latest episode of Shark Tank India, luxury confectionary brand Confect's founder, Chef Gauri Kaushish, had a tiff with sharks Anupam Mittal and Peyush Bansal. Both the entrepreneurs grilled the founder over her business prospects. Her ask for her startup was Rs 1 core at 1% equity. During her pitch, Anupam Mittal took a jibe at her indecisiveness when she mentioned that she gets restless every few years and starts new business. The Shaadi Dot Com founder told her that it is in her 'fitrat' (nature) and for the same reason he might not invest. He also was disappointed that Gauri's biz catered to the US market and not India. On her expansion plan of 800 products, Lenskart's Peyush Bansal bluntly told Gauri that it was a big mistake.
While Anupam Mittal, Peyush Bansal, Vineeta Singh, and Aman Gupta backed out, Emcure's Namita Thapar confidently tabled a deal of Rs 1 crore at 2% equity and royalties until the shark earns her investment back. The deal was sealed.
After the pitch, Chef Gauri went off the cuff and slammed sharks Anupam Mittal and Peyush Bansal, stating, "Ab ho raha hai na FOMO?" Gauri further said that she felt like telling Peyush to sell just one design. She added, "Mujhe toh lagta hai baaki sharks ko cake ka 'k' bhi nahi pata."
