Kiran + Nivi are the American Songwriter Songs That Sync Contest Promotion winners for their song "midnight snack." American Songwriter caught up with them to get the story behind their song.
We began to write songs from high school. Our first introduction to pop music was hearing the radio back in high school. and we were always curious about how these hits were created and the process behind it. We started writing about our lives and kept bettering the craft and finding our own, unique sound!
We have been fans of American Songwriter for years and have seen so many of our favorite artists being covered and we feel honored to have won this contest!
Yes, we are working on a lot of new music and enjoy hopping on the train to LA almost every week for sessions. It's always nice working with many fellow songwriters and producers, and the different approaches that each one has. Part of our identity is our Indian culture, and growing up singing Indian classical music. We always like to include different sounds or aspects of this in our original songs. We can't wait to share it with our fans, and we are so grateful for the love and support they have shown us throughout our journey!!
I think an amazing part of these contests is that everyone has a chance to showcase their crafts, and to all the young artists out there, keep believing in yourselves and creating the music you love!
