The Health And Fitness Benefits Of Consistency: Why Just Showing Up Matters More Than Anything...

Consistency cannot be emphasized enough for building good habits, better health and the best performance. A daily moderate exercise session is much better for long-term results and reduction of injuries than a weekly high-intensity workout, annual New Year's resolutions or sporadic workout cycles. One day at a time, doing something , is the magic we all need to focus on for health, wellness and performance.

While it's easy to be taken in by the allure of trendy workouts or the latest diet fads, research consistently proves that regular, moderate efforts can lead to sustainable success. While it is easy to get tired of not seeing results doing the same old, occasional routine of going hard one week and then crashing the next, let's consider something easier to sustain. It's time to shift your mindset and embrace a simple yet powerful idea: consistency over anything else .

Here are three things to commit to memory when it comes to adding exercise to your day: consistency over everything, progress over perfection and the basics over fads.

Consistency means good habits, and progress is just showing up. Focus on positive self-talk to get you out of bed and moving. Get mad that you even thought about not keeping up with your daily exercise goal; then do it just because you thought about skipping it today. This may not seem like a big win, but it really is. Today's victory is getting moving. If you can do this, the rest of your goal achievement will follow.

Though the long-term goals require patience, getting moving each day is the focused challenge. Embrace the daily struggle, give it the focus it needs and do not worry about the long-term goals. Every day is new, and moving will require individual effort. Once you get consistent with winning this battle, the results you seek will show themselves. Patience comes into play as this process will take weeks and months, and maintenance requires accumulated years thereafter. There is no stopping.
