While married couple Julia Viola and Olivia Curto started this week's episode of The Amazing Race Canada Season 10 ahead of the pack, there was a big switch by the end of this leg of the race. A few too many delays pushed them back so far they were eliminated.
"It was a build up across those three middle challenges where ... we lost a little bit of time here and there, and then it adds up," Viola explained to Yahoo Canada . "And when you get this far into the race your margin for error is so slim and one mistake could cost you."
"So in the archives we were almost paying too much attention. We were going through every single article and trying to read every headline and just any kind of clue to find that Amazing Race article. And that took a little bit too long when in the end, it was just extremely obvious. It literally said Amazing Race in the title."
This week also marked the dreaded Double Pass, when two separate teams can be forced to stop their race to wait for the teams immediately behind. The team ahead can pick a team to be passed, or leave it for the teams behind to figure out. Viola and Curto decided not the use the Double Pass.
"We believe in good karma so we're just like, let's just not put anyone up here. Let's just keep doing our thing, keep focusing on us and let the other teams handle it behind us."
"I think we learned that we absolutely belong together, even though we already knew that," Curto said. "We have very strong communication and because we've been together for so long, there wasn't really any surprises."
"Julia did come out of her comfort zone with charisma and fierceness and anger when we did get U-turned, ... and we never had that opportunity to compete together so I never saw that side of her before. But it did show that we can flip where, if she's a little bit heated ... I can play that more cool and collected side, and we can keep pushing forward."
