Blackpink at the Palace! K-Pop Girl Group Attends South Korean State Banquet


"It is especially inspiring to see Korea's younger generation embrace the cause. I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, better known collectively as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as Ambassadors for the U.K.

Blackpink is believed to have traveled to the UK specially to attend the state banquet. In July, they made history as the first Korean band to headline a major UK festival when they played at the BST Hyde Park festival.

King Charles praises Blackpink for climate advocacy | CTV News

King Charles III paid tribute to K-pop band Blackpink on Wednesday, giving them honorary gongs for their work fighting climate change by raising awareness among young people.

During a three-day state visit by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Charles made Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim and Lalisa Manoban honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of the group's role as COP26 Advocates for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow 2021.

Ahead of their investiture in Buckingham Palace's 1844 room today, which coincides with the South Korean president's state visit to the UK, the band of the Coldstream Guards played the Blackpink hit Ddu-Du, Ddu-Du during the Changing of the Guards at the Palace.

Footage of the performance was shared on the official Royal Family social media accounts, with the caption: "On Wednesdays, we play @BLACKPINK" along with a black and pink heart emoji.
