Study Finds Working In VR Is Less Productive, More Stressful

The week-long study suggests that working in VR seems to lower productivity and can cause migraines, too.

Participants worked for seven days in VR, with 45-minute lunch breaks, and were asked multiple times throughout each day to grade their VR experience compared to working in a normal, real-world office across 10 stats, including perceived productivity, frustration, wellbeing, and anxiety.

Visitors view Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's Alienarium at the Serpentine South Gallery, London. Gonzalez-Foerster designed a bespoke environment for this remarkable work, but only five people at a time can experience it

In the space of a fortnight in April and May, I saw two works made in virtual reality (VR) in London galleries. The first was Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's Alienarium , the artist's second major VR piece, made for the sweeping show of her recent work at the Serpentine South Gallery in London.

People enjoy colorful cities—even in virtual reality | Popular Science

But a modern city can just as easily be filled with verdant gardens or splashes of color: from Jodhpur's azure to Jaipur's pink to the rainbows of Bristol in the UK or Cape Town's Bo-Kaap neighborhood.

It's perhaps of little surprise that scientists believe vibrant environments can be a physical and psychological boon for their inhabitants. The latest evidence to support that—in a study published Friday in the journal Frontiers in Virtual Reality— comes from, well, VR.

How Top Agents Are Using CGI Technology To Make Dream Homes Into A Virtual Reality

From virtual staging to 3-D renderings for new developments, advancements in digital image technology are now making it possible for prospective buyers to "walk through" a home before ever stepping foot on the actual property.

"It's the most critical asset we have when selling pre-construction properties. In years past, we were limited to just static images; now, we can provide potential buyers with interactive walk-throughs that have the effect of putting them in the space as if they were really there."
