With the same passion and expertise used to help college football teams win national titles, Bliss went on to serve a major role in developing Sanford POWER and now helps people regain mobility after knee and hip replacement surgery.

His successes don't get the attention they did when this innovative and nationally known strength and conditioning coach was helping football teams at Nebraska, Miami, Ohio State and North Dakota State win national championships. But the personal satisfaction is similar.

Jackson VA staff walks to Indonesia… virtually - VAntage Point

G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA staff know how to get their steps in. More than 160 employees laced up their walking shoes and “walked” their way to Indonesia during a four-week Step into Whole Health challenge.

During the challenge – held from May 1 to May 31 – the staff collectively walked an impressive 23,319,191 steps, the equivalent of more than 11,000 miles, according to challenge organizer Shawana Jones.

New IBD and exercise research needs Central West participants - CSU News

She explained that new and ongoing research is essential to improve treatment for people with IBD, and she is particularly investigating the immune-modulating effects of exercise.

“This will involve analysing blood samples before and after exercise to understand the anti-inflammatory, immune-modulating effects physical activity has on IBD and how it may differ from people without IBD.”

During the course of their investigation, they discovered the molecule, known as Lac-Phe, is produced during exercise.

Speaking about their research Professor Young Xu said: “If we can understand the mechanism by which exercise triggers these benefits, then we are closer to helping many people improve their health.”
