But despite these changes and setbacks, Season 33 ended up being one of the show's stronger outings . This was refreshing news after a string of seasons that were lackluster compared to previous installments, while streamers like HBO Max developed their own reality competition shows .

Survivor returned from a COVID-induced, year-long hiatus in the fall and currently ranks among the top 25 shows on TV this season with an average of about 7.6 million viewers (including a week of delayed viewing).

When filming was forced to stop in February 2020, three episodes into the 33rd season of the US Amazing Race, not for a moment did host and co-executive producer Phil Keoghan consider it might be time to call it a day.
