From self-driving cars to dancing robots in Super Bowl commercials, artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere. The problem with all of these AI examples, though, is that they're not really intelligent.
Humans (hopefully) display general intelligence. We are able to solve a wide range of problems and learn to work out those problems we haven't previously encountered. We are capable of learning new situations and new things.
Google to Bring Artificial Intelligence to Health, Maternal Health
March 29, 2022 - Google continues its push into healthcare, this time with applications of artificial intelligence to improve cardiovascular and maternal health.
At a Google Health event called The Check Up, the technology giant shared artificial intelligence-focused research and development updates. Google unveiled new AI efforts, including tools that can help treat cardiovascular conditions and improve maternal health.
How We Should View Artificial Intelligence
Advances in computing power, the availability of data and of new algorithms have led to rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This is "the single most influential human innovation in history," says Archana Sinha.
In manufacturing, AI promises to increase productivity by extending the capabilities of humans and by helping businesses achieve more efficiency, including through direct automation, predictive maintenance, reduced downtime, 24/7 production, etc.

DOE Announces $10M for AI Research for High Energy Physics
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 25, 2022 — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced $10 million in funding for projects in artificial intelligence (AI) research for High Energy Physics.
"Employing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning will allow the Office of High Energy Physics (HEP) to get the most science out of our program," said Jim Siegrist, DOE Associate Director of Science for High Energy Physics .
Resolving Artificial Intelligence's Trust Problem
The likelihood to trust companies that use AI as much as other companies is highest among business decision-makers (62%) and business owners (61%), the WEF survey shows. Trust is also higher among the more affluent (57%) and those with a higher-education degree (56%).
But the rush to AI needs to be tempered, lest it delivers harmful, biased results. "Without governance, we might be faster," Margaris says. "But the problem is we will probably be thrown out of the curve.
Artificial Intelligence in Fracture Detection: A Systematic Review and ...
Patients with fractures are a common emergency presentation and may be misdiagnosed at radiologic imaging. An increasing number of studies apply artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to fracture detection as an adjunct to clinician diagnosis.
To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the diagnostic performance in fracture detection between AI and clinicians in peer-reviewed publications and the gray literature (ie, articles published on preprint repositories).
