Price said in October he would not run for reelection, after holding the seat for more than 30 years.

In December, the state’s Supreme Court ordered a pause on candidate filing and pushed the primary election date by two months to May 17 to give the courts time to decide whether the new map was legal.

Former 'American Idol' star Clay Aiken announces run for Congress

Clay Aiken, the former "American Idol" contestant, said Monday that he was running for Congress in North Carolina, in his second attempt to represent the state where he grew up.

"I intend to use my voice to deliver real results for North Carolina families, just like David Price has done for decades," wrote Aiken, a native of Raleigh.

Aiken announced on Twitter Monday he is running for Congress in the state of North Carolina again.

Aiken gained national attention after finishing second on the hit TV singing competition, "American Idol," in 2003.

Can you believe it's been almost 20 years since I first got to share my voice with you? That's a long time. A LOT has changed!

We need powerful voices more than ever, so I'm running for Congress.
