During quarantine, he used that passion to start an online music discovery platform, Have U Heard?, and share the work of local musicians.

"I'd say for probably 50 percent of the lineup, it's their first time performing," Surana said. "And for I think everyone, it will be their biggest audience they've performed to."

New music for a new era - The Bay State Banner

Start with Brandee Younger , a rarity in jazz as she plays the harp to express and explore a range of rhythms. "Somewhere Different," released on Aug. 13, has critics comparing its jazz and funk compositions to the music featured in the "Summer of Soul" documentary film.

Next up is "Dear Love," an album coming out on Sept. 10 by vocalist Jazzmeia Horn , featuring her 15-piece Noble Force band. The album is being released on Horn's own label, Empress Legacy Records, and is her first big band recording.

Local music artist to perform at multiple music festivals – The Morning Sun

The artist is Dylan Hunter, or Dÿlan, is from the Mt. Pleasant area and will be attending school at Sacred Heart Academy.

“Dÿlan has always enjoyed music from a young age,” John Hunter, Dÿlan’s father, said. “He's danced with Professor Ricky ‘Bird’ Clarkson since age 8 and got involved DJing at 9 with a silent disco at Breakaway Music Festival in Grand Rapids.

Maine State Music Theatre cancels shows after deluge of refunds - Portland Press Herald

Maine State Music Theatre is canceling its fall schedule at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center, after next month’s run of the musical “Jersey Boys,” because of poor ticket sales.

Curt Dale Clark, the theater’s artistic director, attributed the cancellation to controversy over the theater’s decision to require ticket-holders to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, as well as people’s general concerns about the virus.
