Doja Cat, Dr. Luke, and the Murky Ethics of Pop - The Atlantic

Eras of music are commonly defined by particular sounds. The '80s had gated reverb , the aughts had Timbaland's beats, and the early 2020s have had the froggy, rasping splendor of Doja Cat's voice.

Doja Cat's entertaining rise, however, has enabled something uncomfortable: the rehabilitation of Dr. Luke's career.

TWICE Producers Erik Smaaland & Kristoffer Tømmerbakke Interview | Billboard

In June, TWICE 's album Taste of Love debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 , earning the nine-member K-pop girl group its first top 10.

We already had a demo for the song and sent it to JYP Entertainment. They really understood the vision for the song, and it was a great process taking it from demo to finished master with TWICE.

How Björk changed pop music forever with 'Debut'

Björk is the archetypal unconventional artist. The unapologetically eccentric star has defied every stereotype labelled at pop musicians across the years and, when Debut was released in 1993, it shook the music industry to its very core.

Despite its title, Debut wasn't actually Björk's introduction to the musical landscape. Although she was only 28 when the record was released, Björk was already somewhat of a musical veteran; an artist who had been in and around the entertainment business since childhood.

Cayenne: Sobs frontwoman makes post-internet pop in sweet and spicy solo project

Vocalist of Singaporean dream pop trio Sobs, Celine Autumn debuts a pop project indebted to PC Music and Charli XCX

The best pop music is, paradoxically, about tactile transcendence – the stimulation of senses in order to take you beyond their limits.

Take Cayenne's second ever single 'Sugar Rush' , which is exactly as sweet and manic as its title promises. Filled with burbling synths, punctuated by digital distortion and defined by a zany synth line and monstrous drop, it's a marvel of polished, PC Music-indebted pop.

Loki's Music Is One Of The Best Parts Of The Show | Game Rant

Loki has been differentiating itself from other MCU properties in a lot of ways, and one of those is in it's music choices. Loki has a beautiful score, as well as some pointed needle drops that have really stood out (in a good way).

Often, the score of a film or TV show goes somewhat unnoticed by most viewers. And this may be the point; the music is helping to tell the story , and because it is so ingrained in what the moment on screen is, it adds to that scene but perhaps doesn't become iconic outside of it.
