Priyanka Chopra joins Victoria's Secret as lingerie brand ditches Angels for women empowerment |

Actor Priyanka Chopra, football star Megan Rapinoe and five other women have joined Victoria Secret as it makes a stark change to its image. The lingerie brand is ditching its supermodels (or Angels as they were called), to focus on women empowerment, giving a platform to female athletes, activists and entrepreneurs.

Introducing Priyanka Chopra and the other new members, Victoria's Secret posted on their Instagram page, "We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective, designed to shape the future of Victoria's Secret. These extraordinary partners, with their unique backgrounds, interests and passions will collaborate with us to create revolutionary product collections, compelling and inspiring content, new internal associate programs and rally support for causes vital to women."

"When the world was changing, we were too slow to respond," said Martin Waters, chief executive of the brand, in an interview to The New York Times. "We needed to stop being about what men want and to be about what women want."

As per the NYT report, Priyanka Chopra and the six others will model for the products, advise the brand, and promote it on social media. The brand has long been criticised for its hyper-sexualised annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. In it, supermodels such as Kendall Jenner , Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge and Alessandra Ambrosio among others.

'Rock Your Curves' event to host all-body lingerie fashion show in downtown Grand

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A new pride event focusing on body-positivity is coming to downtown Grand Rapids.

Naughty Bettie is an all-inclusive lingerie and photography studio located on Curve Street. As a way to empower people of all shapes and sizes, they have created an event called "Rock Your Curves."

Working with the community and local vendors, the event is blocking off part of Curve Street for a special event on Saturday, June 26 from noon to 5 p.m.

"We'll have our fashion show, which is going to showcase models of all genders, ages, sexualities, abilities and ethnicities," said Nicholette Drigss, Store Manager at Naughty Bettie. 

Scarlett Rose will be performing in drag at the event. She said she's excited to be a part of an event like this.

"We're welcoming everybody, every body type, every gender, every skin color, just to come in and feel welcome, and feel safe," Scarlett said.

Nicholette Driggs said they are suggesting 16 and older as the appropriate age to attend, but adds that it is up to the parents' discretion. 

"We feel that all people, no matter what your body size is, your body type is, your age or your gender, or your gender expression, we all deserve to feel beautiful," said Driggs.

Jessica Alves posed in black lingerie in a hotel room in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Friday as she continues to recover from gastric sleeve surgery.

The 37-year-old TV personality took to Instagram to share a picture of herself standing in the lingerie in front of a mirror.

She also uploaded a number of pictures of herself posing on a chair, in the same underwear, onto her Instagram stories.

The lingerie was tied off at the waist, and Jessica paired the set with a flowing sheer black robe on top.

Penning a short caption for her mirror selfie, Jessica wrote: 'For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. Feeling happy to be back at @wistanbul.'

The TV star, who has regularly appeared on This Morning to speak about her various plastic surgery procedures, spoke exclusively to MailOnline after the operation and claimed she is losing 'one kilo per day'.

After her weight rose to 16 stone in lockdown and doctors branded her obese, Jessica decided to undergo the operation at Turkey's Mono Obesity Clinic yet admitted she was scared and concerned.
