Horma Studio creates terracotta-toned salad bar in Valencia

A zigzagging plinth that accommodates seating, steps and planters weaves its way through this terracotta -coloured salad bar in Valencia by local design practice Horma Studio.

Located in a protected heritage building in the city's L'Eixample district, the 140-square-metre space belongs to the BeGreen Salad Company .

"It needed to be representative of BeGreen as a place that should be honest, natural and sustainable but at the same time should rethink the concept of a typical cafe and restaurant with chairs and tables. They were looking for something flexible that could be used without any rules."

Finished in micro cement, terracotta and timber, the interior is laid out over an awkward long and narrow floor plan.

To maximise the eatery's small footprint, the design team inserted a simple seating "plinth" that zigzags along one wall of the 30-metre-long space.

"We realised that the angular furniture allows us to get in more seats and contributes to creating a pleasant space, making this combination the best for our design," the studio explained.

Finished in micro-cement, the plinth is set at different levels of up to 90 centimetres in height. It divides the plan into different seating areas including booths, benches and steps for casual seating, alongside areas for planting.

The plinth is decorated with locally-produced terracotta elements such as wall tiles and integrated cylindrical table legs. Matching upholstered seat cushions were used to pad out the bench and seating.

"The project aims to be as sustainable and honest as possible, so we simplified our decisions and used as few materials as possible," said Horma Studio.

The actor appeared relaxed as he stood topless, and he had a towel around his shoulders while they chatted away.

The Nevers is set in England in the 1890s, and centres on a group of people who have mysteriously been imbued with distinct superpowers. Some can see the future, some grow 10-foot-tall, others can harness electricity.

Start by stepping on a resistance band with your feet shoulder-width apart while holding it at shoulder height with both hands. Squat down by sitting back onto your heels and hips until they're parallel to the ground. Stand back up and use the momentum to press the band up. Get into a forearm plank position with your back and core tight and your glutes squeezed. Start the exercise by pushing yourself up with one hand, and then finishing with the other. Return to the plank position, and then start the movement with the other arm.

Take the resistance band and wrap it around a sturdy surface, such as a beam or a pole. Grip the band and take a couple of steps back to get some tension on it. Keeping your core tight, drive your elbows back, squeezing your shoulder blades together to finish. Straighten your arms fully to get the full stretch before performing another rep.

Get into a split stance with one foot forward and one foot back. Lower yourself under control until your back knee touches the ground, then push yourself up using the heel of the front foot. Perform 10 reps on the same leg before switching over to the other.

Start the movement by putting a barbell inside a landmine attachment. (If you don't have one, just place it on the end of a sturdy surface.) Grip the end of the barbell with both hands and hold it out in front of you with your feet shoulder width apart.

Keeping your core tight, rotate the bar towards one side of your body, while pivoting both feet towards that direction. Leading your hips and shoulders, rotate the bar to the opposite side, maintaining tension in your core. Wrap a resistance band around a sturdy beam or pole and pull it out in front of you. Grip the band and get into a half-kneeling position, with your arms to your chest. The band should be opposite of the knee that is in front of you.

Brace your core, and begin pressing the band out in front of you, exhaling when you finish. Inhale and pull the band back before performing another rep. Finish all reps on one side before switching to the other.

Position yourself by hanging on a pullup bar. Tuck your pelvis and—without swinging—drive your knees towards your chest. Flex your lower abs at the top of the movement, then lower back to starting position before performing another rep.
