Finn Wittrock jokes that he can't wait to see how skin-tight his Green Lantern costume will be. Ten years after Ryan Reynolds' misfire and as WB is looking to develop a Green Lantern Corps. movie, HBO Max is finally revisiting the popular DC property. The Green Lantern streaming series, created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Seth Grahame-Smith, went into development in 2019. It's expected to cover decades-worth of Green Lantern lore, featuring characters like Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott. It will not, however, feature popular characters like Hal Jordan and John Stewart .
Until recently, Green Lantern still appeared to be in the early development stages. That might still be the case, but the show can at least count one star among its ranks: American Horror Story alum Finn Wittrock. Just a few weeks ago, Wittrock was cast as Guy Gardner , a comics character who was first created in 1968. He's been described as " hulking mass of masculinity " and " an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism ," and his story will reportedly kick off in 1984 alongside a half-alien Lantern named Bree Jarta, who has yet to be cast.
Until more cast members are added, all eyes are on Wittrock to supply new info about Green Lantern. The actor recently sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to discuss his new movie Long Weekend, but naturally conversation briefly turned to Green Lantern. On the subject of his costume, Wittrock admitted he hasn't seen it yet, nor has he been fitted for it. However, he's definitely excited for one part: " I'm very interested to see quite how skin-tight this Green Lantern [suit] will be ," he said, since in the comics there's " not a whole lot of wiggle room ."
Wittrock then went on to say he hasn't " seen much. It's still early, 'cause we don't start filming for a while ." It seems likely that Green Lantern is putting more focus in assembling its cast before moving onto costume fittings. Elsewhere in the interview, Wittrock shared his audition process for Green Lantern, which he described as " way bigger " than he expected. That appears to indicate HBO Max is really going all out when casting the show. So far, Wittrock is the only one to have been announced, but more performers could be added within the coming weeks.
Superhero costumes are a major point of interest among fans, and stars have often described that magical feeling when they put on their suits for the first time. Reynolds' Green Lantern costume was famously comprised of a lot of CGI, so hopefully Wittrock gets something a bit more practical for the show. At the same time, it's smart that he's already bracing himself for a really tight fit. It isn't yet clear how many Green Lantern episodes will feature Wittrock, but he might have to wear his costume frequently. Hopefully he'll get to see it soon!

Lily James channels a braless Pam Anderson on set of Hulu series
Lily James continued to channel Pamela Anderson on the set of the upcoming Hulu series just days after the famous model reportedly slammed the show as a “cheap knockoff.”
The 32-year-old actress was photographed Wednesday in Malibu wearing a skin-tight blue mini dress that emphasized her very Anderson-esque bust as well as blue high-heeled boots.
James’ blond locks also resembled Anderson’s famous ‘do as the actress rocked a messy bun and bangs.
The English actress will star alongside Sebastian Stan, who plays the “Baywatch” alum’s ex-boyfriend Tommy Lee, in the eight-part mini-series.
This isn’t the first time James has been photographed during filming. Earlier this month, she was captured in costume wearing a silk robe and a plastic face shield.
The show will follow the relationship and accompanying drama between the Playboy playmate and her MΓΆtley CrΓΌe rocker ex-husband as well as their sex tape scandal and subsequent legal battle with Internet Entertainment Group.
Anderson, 53, and Lee, 58, married in 1996 after knowing each other for only 96 hours but unsurprisingly, things didn’t last.
Anderson is reportedly not pleased with the Hulu drama. A source close to Anderson recently told The Sun , "She and her family think the show is a cheap knockoff.”
The series also stars Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman and Taylor Schilling and is directed by by “I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie.

Henry Golding Reveals the New Snake Eyes Poster, Trailer Coming Sunday
There goes the neighborhood… Your first official poster for @GIJoeMovie Snake Eyes. Can't wait to share the trailer on Sunday at the @MTV Movie and TV awards, tune in at 9pm! #SnakeEyes pic.twitter.com/UXUQg8Gjol
This isn't the Snake Eyes that most G.I. Joe fans are probably familiar with. The film rewinds the clock to tell the silent warrior's origin story, so it doesn't look like Golding will be sporting the character's skin-tight suit and balaclava (at least not until the very end, in any case). Regardless, we will see plenty of martial arts action and swordplay, especially between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The movie will also explore how their friendship turned into the bitter rivalry that it is today.
Robert Schwentke directed the spinoff from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Paramount will release the movie in theaters on July 23.
Are you excited to watch the first footage from the film this weekend? Let us know in the comment section below!
A fan and scribe looks back and looks forward to WNBA's 25th season - Outsports
The bumpy ride of women's pro basketball has seen gadgets, gimmicks, and a lot of potential in a growing college game graduating then disappearing unless the player made an Olympic team. The WNBA changed that.
It mattered that Cynthia Cooper was a Houston Comet , and not just agate type about her playing in Italy. Remember when Teresa Weatherspoon nailed it from half-court for my New York Liberty in the WNBA Finals after a decade playing overseas? I loved seeing Lisa Leslie dominating with the Los Angeles Sparks on national TV , instead of never getting a chance to see her play because she would be with some team in a faraway land an no coverage stateside.
It mattered for a kid I saw play in a high school all-star game during the 2000 Final Four. Six months later, I saw her again in uniform as a freshman at the University of Connecticut with a distinguished four years ahead. Some say Diana Taurasi is the best there's ever been . We can have that debate in greater detail because we get to see the greatness as a Phoenix Mercury, instead of just hearing about her post-college exploits in Turkey and Russia in between Olympic Games.
The sports talk jock naysayers and various flavors of largely male chauvinist bacon had something to say and much if it wasn't nice . Their opinions paled next to seeing the best of a sport no matter where they came from or how they came up playing in the W.
Seeing this not only bolstered this particular sport, these women pushed sport as a whole in a better direction, although some try to decry it. Bird discussed the negative perceptions some have on the WNBA, and how it falsely plays into support for the league, in an interview with CNN last year:
"Women's soccer players generally are cute little White girls while WNBA players, we are all shapes and sizes... a lot of Black, gay, tall women... there is maybe an intimidation factor and people are quick to judge it and put it down,"
I was especially proud to see the league's Black players taking the lead in this last year and seeing their teammates stand up and leading the whole sports world to stand up. But it shouldn't have been a surprise. The WNBA was consistently doing that, albeit it took prodding for the league to get onboard, but they did.
I saw WNBA players en masse stand up to former Atlanta owner and now former U.S. senator Kelly Loeffler openly opposing them. The situation ended with former Dream player Renee Montgomery being a part of the ownership group that bought the team . It also ended with Loeffler losing her Senate seat, thanks in part to WNBA players campaigning heavily for her opponent .
And there was Maya Moore, spending two years away from the game because justice meant more , and Natasha Cloud, who opted out of play, and into the movement .
Zack Snyder shares look at scrapped Justice League Green Lantern
The director has now revealed what Carr's Green Lantern would have looked like during a Q&A, sharing a shot on his phone of the star in his scrapped scene.
"This is kind of crazy because we shot it in what I'm going to call 'Driveway Studios'. He called me after he showed it to everyone, I think it was the second time because they had watched it in parts. He was like, 'They're not letting me do this thing'."
"When I saw the full vision, I went through the journey like everybody went through the journey," the actor continued. "Towards the end I realised, 'Ugh. I'm not a part of this. Darn'."
Speaking about the response from fans, he added: "The thing that kind of just warmed my heart was once all of the concept art and stuff started to drop, it's been nothing but love from the fans, man.
"Like, I wasn't even in the movie, and I'm just getting positive feedback from people and support. It's super crazy. It's absolutely crazy, but I love it."

Notting Hill star Rhys Ifans gives disappointing update about Rod Stewart biopic - Mirror Online
Legendary Notting Hill star Rhys Ifans may leave fans – and Rod Stewart himself – devastated as he has dismissed the idea of playing the rock legend in a biographical movie.
And while Rod said last year he would love to see Rhys slip in to skin tight leather trousers to play him, the actor himself has dismissed the idea.
Meanwhile, Rhys recently got into a spot of bother after a spot of wild swimming as he found himself trapped in his wetsuit.
The Daily Mail quote the star saying: "I was on my own in the house and it took me an hour and a half to get out of it. I was having panic attacks.
"I was red. I was trying to hook the back zip onto the door handle and in the end, I thought, 'I'm going to have to drive to the local pub and ask for help.' It was literally like I'd been vacuum-packed."
Reality stars Monique Morley and Jaimie Gardner show off toned abs | Daily Mail Online
And on Tuesday, The Bachelor 's Monique Morley and Married At First Sight 's Jaimie Gardner were star guests at Bondi Active's new launch at Sydney's Bondi Beach.
Top of the crops! Former Bachelor star Monique Morley (pictured) showed off her toned abs and lean physique in black activewear at a launch event at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Tuesday
Despite being put through their paces in an intense workout by Lizzie Bland of Lean Bean Fitness, Monique and Jaimie looked picture-perfect with radiant complexions.
She has always been honest about her beauty regimen, telling The Wash in October last year that she gets Botox injections every 'two to three months'.
'In the past, I have had filler in my tear ducts to reduce the bags, and [in my] smile lines,' Monique said.
Familiar face: Also attending Bondi Active's workout and breakfast to launch their new activewear range was Married At First Sight 2021 contestant Jaimie Gardner (pictured)
'Years ago, I had my lips done. However, they've all been dissolved. I prefer to stay more natural now,' she added.
Their television marriage came to an explosive end after Chris sensationally quit the Channel Nine dating show.
Green Lantern: Finn Wittrock Describes His Guy Gardner Casting Process
Finn Wittrock recently revealed the unexpected audition process he went through when reading for the part of Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, in HBO Max's Green Lantern series.
"I did an old-fashioned screen test," Wittrock told Rotten Tomatoes during an Instagram Q&A. The actor added that he usually records auditions in his home office in front of a screen or goes to a casting office. (His comments start at around 15:30 in the interview .)
"But the old school way of doing it was, like, you go to a studio and they would put lights and camera like a real film, and you'd do a proper scene. And so that's what I did," he continued. "It was kind of daunting and big. Like way bigger than I thought it would be.
Wittrock further explained that he read the scene opposite a casting director named Vicky Thomas, who he was a little intimidated by because of her experience in the industry.
"She sat on this dolly as they pushed it into my face on this little stool and read with me," the actor recalled. "And then like a week later I found out that I got it. So it was very cool."
During the same conversation, Wittrock also shared that he has yet to see the suit he will be wearing when he begins filming, confirming, "No suit yet. I'm studying the comics, and so I'm very interested to see how skin tight this Green Lantern suit will be... There's not a whole lot of wiggle room in that outfit. But no, I haven't really seen much."
Wittrock also teased that his friends are as excited as he is to see the suit, noting, "I'm going to a friend's wedding in June, and they were like, 'Can you skip the tuxedo and bring the Green Lantern suit?' I was like, 'I will try, man. I'll try.'"
It was announced in late April that Wittrock , best known for his roles in FX's American Horror Story , would portray Gardner in HBO Max's upcoming Green Lantern series. At the time his casting was announced, Wittrock's Gardner was described as "a hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism. And yet, Guy is somehow likable."
Guy Gardner was created by John Broome and Gil Kane and first appeared in 1968's Green Lantern #59. Gardner has also previously appeared in Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network.
