Ariana Grande Breaks Another Billboard Record With 'Positions'

Ariana Grande is back inside the top 10 on this week's Billboard 200 with her album Positions , which returns to the region for another go between Nos. 1 and 10. The pop singer's latest full-length shoots from No. 17 to No. 6, bolstered by a huge sales frame. But what sparked the surge in purchases?

Five months after it was first released, vinyl LPs of Positions finally shipped, which means all the sales of the title on wax were counted in the previous tracking frame at once. Thanks to that fact, Grande's latest isn't just a successful vinyl launch, it makes history.

Last week, Positions , sold 32,000 copies on vinyl, as tens of thousands of fans rushed to their local record store, a big box retailer or went online to grab a copy of the title. That sum isn't just impressive, it's one of the largest ever, and when looking solely at releases by women, there's now a new best showing.

Positions now holds the record for the largest sales week for an album by a woman on vinyl, at least since MRC Data (formerly known as Nielsen) began tracking those purchases more than two decades ago.

Grande grabs this record from Lana Del Rey, who reset it earlier this month. The alt-pop singer-songwriter's new album Chemtrails Over the Country Club also managed 32,000 copies on vinyl in its introductory week, but it isn't tied with Positions .

Jack White continues to hold the record for the largest vinyl sales sum in one week, which he achieved in 2014 with his album Lazaretto . That title managed to move 40,000 copies when it first arrived.

Positions debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last fall, bringing Grande back to the chart's summit for the fifth time in her career.

The Voice: What We Know About Ariana Grande's $13.7 Million LA Home

With $150 million dollars to her name, the next The Voice judge Ariana Grande wasn't only talking about diamond rings when she said, " I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it." The star has made residence in a $13.7 million mansion in Los Angeles, California. After renting homes throughout the City of Angels for five years, she finally landed on a permanent house in a neighborhood known as the Bird Streets of LA.

Ariana, who is set to judge the competition's upcoming season , became a singing sensation when her fame skyrocketed after beginning a music career following her stint as a Nickelodeon star. Since then, the 27-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress became Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2018, the greatest pop star of 2019, and the most accomplished female artist of the 2010s.

Sold by Woodbridge Liquidation Trust, Ariana purchased her house in July of 2020, two years after its construction (via Variety ). With a two-year vacancy, Ariana is the first owner to utilize its expansive seven bathrooms, four bedrooms, and three floors. With large glass balconies on each story, the entire top level is a master bedroom, complete with a lounge area, private terrace, and boutique-style closet that's bigger than the average bedroom.

From the outside, metal doors open to an atrium that leads to an all-glass front door. Ironically, Ariana's house is rather visible, whether to passersby, tourists, or her neighbors, Leonardo DiCaprio and Keanu Reeves. While the floor-to-ceiling windows may provide natural sunlight, they also put the interior on full display for people to see. With its close proximity to the street, the front of the home is just a few feet from the road. Like many of the other homes in the area, Ariana's doesn't have a yard, or but it does include a large patio, perfect for entertaining guests or relaxing with her fiancé Dalton Gomez , and an L-shaped infinity pool that looks out to the view of Los Angeles.

Initially priced at $25.5 million and later at $17.5 million, the $13.7 million Ariana wound up paying still made the investment one of the most expensive Hollywood purchases of 2020. But with her successful career, which includes two Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, and nine MTV Music Awards, the singer has made a heap of well-earned profits that allowed her to buy a home only fit for a pop star. The Voice fans can expect to see her alongside Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson in the show's 21st season.

Ariana Grande adds a new verse to The Weeknd's 'Save Your Tears' in remix

Rumours of a remix to the Canadian singer’s hit single had been floating around for a while, and last week (April 19) he shared what appears to be a snippet of the song with new vocals from Grande.

A new post from The Weeknd has now confirmed the new remix, which has arrived with an accompanying animated video. The clip continues the gory, surreal narrative of The Weeknd’s music videos for his latest album ‘After Hours’ , taking the story into sci-fi territory.

Grande adds a husky verse of her own to ‘Save Your Tears’ on the remix, and appears in the video as a cyborg. Watch it here:

'Save Your Tears' originally appeared on The Weeknd's fourth studio album ‘After Hours’, released in March 2020.

In a four-star review of the album, NME ‘s Luke Morgan Britton called 'After Hours' “The Weeknd's strongest record in some time”.

“But still there's a nagging question of what's to come,” he added. “Because once you go pop, and then back to your roots, where exactly do you go next? That's precisely the problem The Weeknd faces with his next effort.”

The singer-songwriter has had one of his biggest years following the release of'After Hours'. It featured the hits 'Heartless', 'Save Your Tears', and 'Blinding Lights'. The latter has become the first song ever to spend an entire year in the Top 10 of the US Hot 100 singles chart .

Despite controversially being snubbed at this year's Grammy Awards – which he has since said he will now boycott – The Weeknd has hinted that he might have one last surprise for fans before he concludes his 'After Hours' era .

The Weeknd also recently announced plans to donate $1million (£723k) to help hunger relief efforts in Ethiopia as conflict continues in the country.

11 Songs You Need To Hear This Week: Ariana Grande, Jorja Smith, CHVRCHES And More | The Interns

Salem Ilese continues to drop pristine pop cuts. About A Breakup is no different – perky and charismatic with a hook that’s sure to circle the head for days.

CHVRCHES are back and the always-outspoken Lauren Mayberry is taking a swipe at sexism. He Said She Said is pointed and furious but it’s also delivered with in a sprawling electro-pop atmosphere that will have CHVRCHES fans roped right back in.

Max Leone gets more and more vulnerable with each release. untitled may be his rawest drop yet. His vocals are present and up-front while his lyrics leave nothing off the table.

Mills is one of the most charismatic new songwriters out there right now and he’s just dropped his first project Train Of Thoughts. Wild Things sees him dabbling in trap production showing that he’s able to carry his personality into any musical pocket.

Aluna has dropped a new single for Spotify and it’s a banger. She has her formula down with those airy vocals over wobbly production and it never sees her trip up. Trouble is festival-ready and so are we.

Eluera is right at the front of the new Australian pop crop right now. If you need proof, look no further than this free-flowing bop. Everything about it feels effortless just like every great pop song should.

Amber Mark is right back in the pocket with her latest release Worth It. Warm, dance-tinged beats are how she made her, ‘scuse the pun, mark and she’s tapped into it once again here. It oozes comfort and familiarity which is not an easy feeling to execute.

Deb Never has brought flair to songs by Slowthai and BROCKHAMPTON but now she’s made her strongest mark by herself. Sorry operates amongst muddy, hypnotising production but Deb Never’s voice remains rock-steady. It’s vulnerable and stirring.

We’re weeks out from a new Jorja Smith project Be Right Back. If it’s as emotionally potent as Gone is we’re going to be in ruins. Another phenomenal vocal performance from one of the most recognisable voices around right now.
