America's diva rolled up her sleeve in NYC Saturday to get her first dose, but it wasn't without some trepidation. The "Emotions" singer had 2 of them -- excitement and nervousness, as the camera rolled for the money shot.
As the doctor sticks the needle in her arm, she belts out her signature, glass-breaking screech ... 2 times, no less!!!
Mariah is curious about the absence of blood, ending with this proclamation, "See, I've proven my point. I am actually a vampire."
Quite a lot has been happening:
Mariah Carey's Brother Sues Her for "Mental Anguish" Over Memoir
The lawsuit, filed in New York Supreme Court on March 3, alleged that specific passages written about Morgan Carey were false and defamatory. Co-author Angela Davis, Andy Cohen Books, and Macmillan Publishing Group LLC were also listed as defendants.
"Many passages about him in the Book are false and defamatory, personally invasive and painful, and have caused serious damage to his reputation and to his personal and business affairs," the lawsuit, obtained and viewed by Insider, read.
"It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart," the memoir read. "It was also the first time I witnessed the possibility that a member of my family could brutally die in front of my eyes. Or that I could die too. I wasn't yet four years old."
The lawsuit alleged that the "clichéd and racially charged portrayal of two Black males" fighting never happened.
Another passage alleged that Morgan was physically aggressive towards their mother and characterized him as "the Big Bad Wolf."
"My childhood was a series of fragile, unstable houses, one after the other, where inevitably the Big Bad Wolf, my troubled brother, would huff and puff and blow it all down," the book said. "I never felt safe."
The lawsuit argued that Morgan has "deep affection" for their mother and that passage was false.
Morgan did not seek a specific amount of money but asked for "judicial determination" that the passages of false and defamatory. He's also sought to undo the damage created by the alleged narrative.
The Carey family has remained estranged in recent years, with Mariah referring to her siblings as her "ex-brother" and "ex-sister."
Mariah Carey's Mom Was Embarrassingly Drunk At an Important Congressional Dinner
Carey’s relationship with her mother, Patricia Carey, is tumultuous to say the least. Carey revealed several details about their history in her 2020 memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey .
Carey’s mother was an opera singer who resented seeing her daughter find success as a singer. As a child, she made Carey feel unworthy; as an adult, after the “Fantasy” singer became a superstar, she was an opportunist whom Mariah acknowledged viewed her as “an ATM machine with a wig on.”
Whenever Carey’s relatives got in a fight, Patricia didn’t hesitate to call the cops on her Black family.
Carey brought her mother to the dinner to celebrate the moment together. “I was proud that a little girl who grew up feeling like an outcast now had an honored seat at one of the most esteemed tables in the world,” she recalled. “I had my mother all dolled up: hair, nails, professional makeup. I bought her a new, fancy dress — the whole nine. This was an occasion to look our best and be on our best behavior.”
It wasn’t long, however, before Carey’s mother began to embarrass her. “She had a few cocktails on the short plane ride from New York to Washington, DC, and continued to booze it on up during the dinner. As the effects of the drinks kicked in, her decorum slipped away,” Carey recounted.
“She began to theatrically express her political opinions, which you absolutely don’t do at a distinguished event like this, even stone-cold sober,” she continued. “Her thoughts descended into insults, which melted down into a small but disturbing tirade. The one thing everyone knew not to do was what my mother was now fully engaged in. I was mortified.”
Once her mother began acting out, Carey — who was already a frequent target of the tabloids — knew she had to protect herself and her image, as well as her mother’s.
The two had a miserable plane ride back to New York together, and when Carey was on her way home, the gravity of the situation hit her.
“Alone in the back of a limo, in my black silk gown, hugging an award form my country, I cried,” she remembered. “She may have been in a blackout and unaware of what she did or said. But I had to process the sadness, embarrassment, and pain of the experience.”
Mariah Carey Said Jennifer Lopez Isn't in the Same 'Category' as Beyoncé
Mariah Carey has often garnered publicity for what she's said about other singers. For example, an interviewer once asked her what she thought of fellow pop divas Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez . Carey responded by saying Beyoncé and J.Lo don't belong in the same "category" for a very specific reason. In addition, she opened up about whether she’d like to perform a duet with Queen B.
It all starts with an interview clip from 2005. PinkNews reports an interviewer from France's M6 Channel asked Carey what she thought of a new generation of singers, specifically Beyoncé and J.Lo. In addition, the interviewer asked Carey if either of those singers inspired her music.
"Well, it's hard," Carey replied. "You can't really put those two people in the same category because one isn't really a different generation, they just started singing later. But when you talk about Beyoncé, I think she's wonderful. She's great. She's a talented person."

Carey's comments raise questions about when Beyoncé and J.Lo started singing. Destiny's Child released their self-titled debut album in February 1998. On the other hand, J.Lo released her debut album, On the 6 , in June 1999. Because of this, Destiny’s Child and J.Lo can’t be considered part of different generations.
Beyoncé released her first solo album, Dangerously in Love , in 2003. If we limit the discussion to Queen B's work as a solo artist, it is true that she began her career in a different decade than J.Lo. However, it’s again up to fans if they think that a gap of four years means the two singers are part of two different generations. Meanwhile, Carey released her self-titled debut album in 1990, meaning she was releasing music for nearly a decade before Destiny's Child or J.Lo released any albums.

While Carey didn't cite Queen B as an inspiration, she did discuss the possibility of performing a duet with her in a separate interview. "I would love to work with her anytime, she's amazing," Carey said, according to Access . "It'll happen, when and if it happens, whenever. And if not, I'll always admire her and look at her as a friend. We have a lot of fun, she's fun. She's a great girl. I love her so much, I really do."
This raises an interesting question: Which of the three singers has the most number 1 hits? Carey has 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 so far. Meanwhile, Beyoncé has seven No. 1 hits on the same chart . J.Lo has produced four Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles. While Carey doesn't think Beyoncé and J.Lo belong in the same category, all three singers belong in the exclusive club of artists who reached No. 1 on the chart.

Padma Lakshmi Has A Surprising Connection To Mariah Carey
Eventually, she landed a role that would not only be talked about for years to come, but would bring her closer to one of the most well-known divas in the entertainment business: Mariah Carey.
In the movie, she plays another pop star, Sylk, with let's just say... not the greatest voice. Carey plays her backup singer, Billie, who turns out to be behind one of her most popular tracks. Cue all of the drama — and, likely, a performance that Lakshmi would like to forget. That being said, maybe she could pull some strings and get Mariah to come guest judge on Top Chef? That would be an ideal Bravo crossover.
During an appearance on the YouTube series Hot Ones , Lakshmi once again spoke about the movie. "The best thing about Glitter is standing next to Mariah Carey while she sings acapella," Lakshmi said. "She's a freak of nature," Lakshmi added, comparing her to Michael Jordan. "These people have these Olympic talents."
She might not ever win a Grammy or an Oscar (though who is to say!?), Lakshmi has become a prominent voice in the world arguing for change, especially when it comes to equality and food security. Let's just hope she never has to sing for her supper.
