The Reason Why BTS Doesn't Have Official Vinyl Records

With photo cards and posters, BTS' CD packages often sell millions of copies globally. Despite these sales, the K-pop group doesn't release official vinyl copies of albums like Map of the Soul: 7 . Here are some fan theories regarding why.

Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are seven members of one of the biggest boy bands in the world, who recently released their album, BE (Essential Edition) and performed at the Grammy Awards. They're also known for their powerful fan base, the BTS ARMY .

That love from fans especially shines through with their album sales. (According to Billboard , BTS' February 202 release, Map Of The Soul: 7, sold 4.8 million total global units that year.) Although BTS is known for selling millions of albums worldwide, the group does not create and release official vinyl copies of their work.

Choosing CDs over records isn't a BTS and Big Hit Entertainment exclusive decision. Most physical music sold K-pop groups are released in CD "packages" which come with other goodies for fans of the group. There are a few theories regarding why this business model works so well.

"Most of these companies know that CD listening is on decline, but that's why they included photo cards and posters and all of these things," one Quora user noted. "It gets fans interested enough and they buy, most of their incomes comes from the physical sales of albums. Albums are also cheaper to make and produce faster as well."

Part of the reason why BTS fans (and fans of other K-pop groups) buy several versions of the same record is because of the different concept art styles and perks it comes with. Map of the Soul: Persona came in four shades of pink.

Map of the Soul: 7 differentiated its versions with different colors intertwining to form the number "7." It's the posters and photo cards and photo films that make these CD packages so special to fans, even if they all contain the same songs from the group.

However, some BTS fans are still hoping for the official release of BTS songs on vinyl, especially as records become trendier in the United States. One Reddit thread on the topic had some listening even hoping for the members' solo music to be released on vinyl.

BTS's "Film Out" Music Video Sparks Bangtan Universe Fan Theories | Teen Vogue

BTS are back with a new Japanese song and music video — and they've returned to making our heads spin with symbolism and potential theories.

While "Film Out" is a song riddled with complex, heartbreaking emotions in itself, its music video also left fans trying to decipher the layered meanings behind it. We all know that if there is one thing that BTS and their creative team love to do, it's set the internet on fire by dropping a music video that will leave fans speculating for days.

Below, we round up some of the most interesting theories and thought-starters ARMY have developed for BTS's "Film Out" music video. (Reminder to take all theories with several grains of salt.)

While the septet is harmoniously sitting and talking together in "Film Out," Jin sadly holds up the hourglass, implying that he is out of time. Jungkook notices this, but he quickly turns away when Jin looks at him. Could it be that Jungkook knows that Jin is caught in the HYYH -era time loop?

John Cena Says BTS Army Was 'Brave Enough' to Support His Vulnerability in Journey

The statement of self-love coincided with the  BTS album,  Love Yourself , catching the attention of the band's big fanbase.

It was thanks to the support of the Army that Cena was able to turn his moment of vulnerability into a passion with these books that give readers a chance to reflect and hopefully become their best selves.

"These books exist because the Army was brave enough -- the BTS Army -- was brave enough to support my vulnerable moment and now it's become a part of my daily routine," he revealed.

"I think all of those statements, some of them are aspirational, but they all engage conversation. You're going to feel a certain way about each one and I think that's why the book is great for young readers because if you don't know how at home to maybe approach certain subjects, this is someone hopefully that your kids will gravitate towards and maybe can start that conversation," the  Fast 9  actor said. "And for adult readers, man, especially with the last year, it gives you a chance to reflect. These are things I that said over the past four years and I go through the pages and I'm moved to emotion."

"I really gotta thank K Pop, I gotta thank BTS for supporting me in a moment of weakness and turning it into a passion of mine."

BTS Smashes Billboard Chart Records With 'Dynamite' - MTV

Since the release of BTS 's feel-good, disco-infused summer single " Dynamite " last August, the group has made it an almost weekly habit of setting new records on the Billboard charts. The track became the group's first-ever No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart (and the boys promptly threw a party to celebrate ), but the subsequent accolades it's garnered since its release — including hitting the top of both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S charts — have solidified BTS's place among the highest echelons of pop culture.

After 32 weeks on the Hot 100 chart, the group has officially become the longest-charting Korean artist in the chart's history with "Dynamite." Up until this week, the previous record of 31 weeks on the Hot 100 had been held by Psy's iconic single "Gangnam Style," which cinched the record in 2013 and held it for the last seven years.

On the same day, it was revealed that "Dynamite" had also hit 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart and became the longest-held No. 1 in that chart's history, too. The song surpasses Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's 2017 hit "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, which previously held the title for 17 weeks.

Earlier this week, BTS shared their excitement alongside Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato after it was announced that their entertainment company, HYBE (previously known as Big Hit Entertainment), would purchase Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings. "We're so happy to see so many artists that we cherish and love become a part of this family," leader RM said . "It feels like the world is getting more connected and even smaller."

With HYBE's newest global acquisition and interest in BTS spreading even further internationally — especially after their stellar performance at the 2021 Grammys last month — the group continues to light up music charts across the globe with a passion, style, and "a little funk and soul."

The Grammys used BTS for advertisements and attention. Despite the band's record breaking success and popularity, they won no awards.

BTS, the boy band consisting of RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jungkook, has taken the world by storm — the same world that watched as they were exploited by The Recording Academy at the 63rd Grammy awards March 14, 2021.

The group released the title track 'Dynamite' for album 'Be' on Aug. 21, 2020. In the span of seven months, it amassed international notoriety and broke multiple Guinness book world records. The music video became the most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours by a K-pop group, raking in more than 100 million views in that short time frame.

Not only did the song spend three weeks as No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it also peaked at No. 1 four times on the Billboard Hot 200, breaking yet another record for holding a top spot on American music charts.

BTS performed 'Dynamite' numerous times, the first being at the VMAs , where they also won every award for which they were nominated.

The momentum truly couldn't seem to stop when it was announced that 'Dynamite' was nominated for the Grammy category "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," making the BTS members the first K-pop artists to achieve this.

Leading up to the awards, BTS was plastered on Grammys advertisements, exciting their worldwide fanbase, "ARMY." During the actual Grammys night, the group was mentioned numerous times as their performance was saved for the end of the night.

However, ARMY and a number of other artists were rocked when the announcement came that BTS didn't win. Despite them being the face of the award show this year and breaking multiple world records for their nominated song, the award went to 'Rain on Me,' a collaboration between Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga — who weren't even there to accept.

Within minutes, BTS' fanbase had #Scammys trending on Twitter, calling out The Recording Academy for this massive disillusionment. The disappointment and rage, along with mass support for the group under the tag #BTSOurGreatest Prize, trended No. 1 on Twitter, garnering more attention than the Grammys itself.

BTS' Jungkook Didn't Even Flinch Writing This on Jin's Phone

After performing together for over seven years, the BTS members became pretty close. The youngest member of the group, Jungkook, didn't even get mad when he saw Jin wrote on his toiletry bag. When Jin tried to write his name on his phone, though, Jungkook was quick to add to it.

As one of the biggest boy bands in the world, BTS earned a few brand deals, including with Starbucks and FILA. They also partnered with the technology brand, Samsung.

Thanks to this brand deal, the BTS members often receive the most recently-released phones from the company. In addition to the BTS members sporting new Samsung phones, the company released products inspired by these performers during 2020.

That includes the Galaxy S20+ 5G BTS Edition, Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition, and Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition, each showcasing shades of purple.

While the BTS members were on "standby," Jin and Jungkook decided to customize some of their stuff. In the Bangtan Bomb posted to YouTube, Jin sat trying to decide what to write on his new phone. When he finally tried to write, his marker was out of ink.

"I gave it so much thought," Jin said, according to a translation on the video . "What do I do now? I feel like I should write my name."

With a new marker, Jin wrote his name on his "Galaxy Buds" case. The next day, he tried again to write on the phone. This time, with a case on it. Without hesitation, he wrote "Jin," to which J-Hope and RM looked on surprised.

A few moments later, Jungkook swiped Jin's phone and added to Jin's name. He made it "Jan." To retaliate, Jin started writing on Jungkook's toiletry bag. When Jungkook saw that Jin wrote "I'm JK," he laughed.
