Blackpink's 'As If It's Your Last' Video Hits 1B | Billboard

K-pop superstars Blackpink celebrated a new milestone on Tuesday (April 27) when their colorful clip for "'마지막처럼 (As If It's Your Last)" crossed the one billion mark.

The feat gives Blackpink the distinction of being the only K-pop act with four videos reaching that peak, surpassing fellow South Korean superstars BTS, who have three so far.

BTS, Blackpink And 'IZ': Excitement On The World Albums Chart

This week is a particularly quiet one on the World Albums chart, as no new titles debut on the 15-spot tally...but that just means there's less competition and that older, beloved projects can return to add to their already-impressive runs.

Following a relatively small (but apparently large enough) sales bump, BTS's Map of the Soul: 7 returns to the No. 1 spot on the World Albums chart this week. The set steps up one space, as it sat in the runner-up rung last time around. In doing so, it swaps spots with the band's other recent release, Be , which rules more frequently than not these days.

Map of the Soul: 7 debuted atop the World Albums chart last March, and it has since spent 60 weeks on the ranking of the bestselling "world" titles in the U.S. This frame, it also lifts to No. 17 on the Top Album Sales list, which looks only at those titles that actually sold the most copies. More than 4,500 fans of the South Korean septet purchased the set in the previous tracking period.

tFor the second week in a row, BTS claim seven of the spaces inside the top 10, giving them control over 70% of the competitive arena.

Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, sometimes known simply as "IZ," returns to the World Albums chart once again with the biggest release of his career, Facing Future , which has now been out for almost 30 years. The set is continuously powered by the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World," a mashup of two classics that the Hawaiian musician put his own spin on. That cut is apparently never going to disappear, and this week it tops the World Digital Song Sales chart once again, which likely helps explain why the full-length is back.

Blackpink, BTS, Stray Kids And Weeekly: Hits Making Moves On The World Songs Chart

On this week's World Digital Song Sales chart, four songs debut while just as many familiar tracks return to the list for another spin somewhere between Nos. 1 and 25.

Blackpink's recent No. 1 smash "How You Like That" is still going strong as it nears a year on the World Digital Song Sales chart, and this week is the best in some time for the electro tune. This frame, the cut returns to the top 10, vaulting from No. 12 to No. 3, an impressive jump for a cut that's already spent so much time on the tally.

Recent Grammy winner and musical powerhouse Wizkid scores another win on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week with his track "Essence," which features fellow musician Tems. Wizkid has now sent 22 different tunes to the tally, with two rising all the way to the peak position.

South Korean girl group Weeekly (yes, there are three e's in the name) are still fairly new, as they only debuted less than a year ago, but the band is already making waves in the U.S. This frame, the septet starts their new single "After School" at No. 21 on the tally, scoring an important win that shows they may have a bright future in America.

As is typically the case, BTS occupy more spots on the World Digital Song Sales chart than any other act, and they're even able to bring one of their biggest hits back to the list. "Boy With Luv," which stands out as one of the septet's most successful tunes, reappears at No. 23 this time around. The cut, which once topped the list, has now spent 76 nonconsecutive frames somewhere on the ranking.

Blackpink's Rose Solo Interview: Making 'On The Ground' | Billboard

"We wanted to find something that spoke to me, so it felt right to be talking about what I've been thinking about these past couple of years," Rosé says over Zoom, joined by her dog, Hank (who spends most of the interview snoozing next to her). "It sounded like if you would have dinner with me, have a conversation with me. It's something I would passionately talk about and question."

From the pressure of fan expectations to the occasionally frustrating process of finding her sound, Rosé says stepping out on her own wasn't easy. But she wasn't totally alone — she credits her bandmates with encouraging her to pull the trigger on her solo music and holding her hand along the way. And any worries she had about how the music might be received were quickly assuaged: "On the Ground" topped both Billboard 's Global 200 and Global 200 Excl. U.S. charts — making her the first K-pop soloist to do so. (It also reached No. 70 on the Hot 100.)

Below, she tells Billboard about learning to get vulnerable in her music, how she fell in love with the guitar and what it's like discovering she has a fan in Britney Spears.

I think I'm finally getting used to the fact that it's out there. At first when it came out, I was very unsure of how I should be feeling. I didn't see that coming. I thought I had it all planned out like how I do everything with my work, but I don't think I had my feelings planned out. So when the time came, I was like, "Oh my gosh! What do I do?" I guess the right thing is to celebrate all the work I'd put into it, all the preparation, and leave it up to my fans to react and see what happens.

I wasn't prepared to, but my family surprised me. I was like, "This feels like my birthday!" Which, basically — my song came out, so it's the birthday of my solo debut.

It was a lot of things. I know that my fans have been anticipating my solo and waiting and asking for it. So the pressure was high. On top of that, these songs are a lot like me, I would say. It was just being nervous about how people will react to something that was a different approach from what we would normally do for Blackpink.

We went through the whole thought process of: "What are we going to sing about? What is Rosie going to talk about for a good three minutes by herself?" It could have gone any other way — love songs, breakup songs. They would have all been great. But we wanted to find something that spoke to me, so it felt right to be talking about what I've been thinking about these past couple of years. When we debuted, it was all chaos, everything was happening — bam, bam, everywhere. We were on that whole rollercoaster. And there comes a time when you gotta just sit and [ask yourself]: Where am I going? Where am I at?

I had a lot of these thoughts in my head anyway, and I think this song just spoke to all of us. We felt like it sounded the most like me. It sounded like if you would have dinner with me, have a conversation with me. It's something I would passionately talk about and question. It's something I would question myself before I go to bed. So I thought it would be a good approach for my first solo song.

Yes, my band is definitely a part of that. Blackpink, my producer, the company, everybody — as soon as we heard it, [it was like] "Let's go with this one." Also the song is in English. We usually release songs in Korean, so it was a big question [for us]: Is it the right approach to have a full song out in English as my title track? But it sounded like me.

BLACKPINK's Rosé describes the songwriting process for 'R' as "very

Rosé of BLACKPINK has revealed that she struggled with the creative process for her solo debut single album, ‘R’.

In a recent interview with Billboard , the singer shared the ups and downs she faced while working on her debut solo release. For Rosé, figuring out the direction she wanted to take with her songwriting was far from being an easy process, describing it as “very fun” but also “very stressful at times”.

“It could have gone any other way – love songs, breakup songs. They would have all been great. But we wanted to find something that spoke to me, so it felt right to be talking about what I've been thinking about these past couple of years,” she said to Billboard . “It sounded like if you would have dinner with me, have a conversation with me.”

Earlier this month, Rosé was named as Tiffany & Co.'s new global ambassador . The luxury brand cited Rosé's "bold personality and modern style influence" as key factors in their decision to feature her in the brand;s new 2021 Tiffany HardWear digital campaign.

BLACKPINK’s ‘As If It’s Your Last’ reaches 1 billion views on YouTube |

Popular South Korean music act BLACKPINK has become the first K-pop group to have four songs with more than 1 billion views. The feat was achieved when the track “As If It’s Your Last” got past the coveted mark.

The group is known not just for the music but also slickly produced and choreographed music videos that have made them one of the most popular music groups in the world. Fans appreciate both the aural and visual aspect of BLACKPINK’s songs.

All this is remarkable considering BLACKPINK is a relatively new music act and have only a few releases to their name.

Earlier, BLACKPINK’s record for the most viewed video on YouTube in a single day with "How You Like That" was broken by BTS’ "Dynamite", which clocked 86.4 million views in the first 24 hours of its premiere. "How You Like That" had garnered 86.3 million views in a day.

BLACKPINK ties Coldplay as group with most music videos to hit 1B views on YouTube | ABS-CBN

South Korean girl group BLACKPINK proved that K-pop is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the global music industry after they saw their fourth music video “As If It’s Your Last” hit 1 billion views on YouTube.

According to World Music Awards, Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo have tied with British rock band Coldplay on the list of groups with the most music videos that surpassed the 1-billion mark on YouTube.

On top of their addictive melodies, the group’s visuals and inventive choreography helped propel the quartet into global stardom.

In 2020, Bloomberg titled the group as the biggest pop band in the world based on its Pop Star Power Rankings.

The K-pop group, however, is not new to smashing records. In 2019, the quarter made history as the first-ever K-pop idols to join the 1-billion club on YouTube.

According to Billboard, the four-piece act was also the first all-female group to lead the Artist 100 chart since its inception in 2014.

BLACKPINK also held the record for most viewed video on YouTube in a single day with “How You Like That” until it was broken by BTS’s “Dynamite.”
