After Olivia Rodrigo shared an Instagram Story of herself in the studio with Conan Gray, the 'drivers license' singer spoke about what went down.

The whole world is eagerly awaiting for new music from Olivia Rodrigo , after her debut single, 'drivers license', spent three weeks at the top of The Official Big Top 40 .

Recently, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actor shared an Instagram Story showing herself in the studio with Conan Gray, so we had to get to the bottom of it.

...

Speaking to Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp , Olivia said "Conan's a friend of mine, and the guy who produces most of my music produces most of his.

"We're just pals and I think he's so brilliant," she said, as she neither confirmed nor denied rumours of an upcoming collaboration.

Conan Gray seemingly sent Olivia a message, claiming she'd left pistachios in the studio, to which Olivia jokingly told Capital that "Pistachios are my studio food of choice.

"If you ever catch me in the studio, I'm probably eating pistachios, and so I just left some on the piano the other day, and [Conan] was like 'Did you, like, leave these here?!'"

Talking of collaborations, Olivia said she was (obviously) open to working with Taylor Swift, after the pair have been praising and supporting each other and their music.

Here's Why It Took Olivia Rodrigo 4 Tries Before She Got Her Driver's License

Olivia Rodrigo is a rising star. She rose to fame as a Disney actor on the shows Bizardvaark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series .

Nowadays, Rodrigo is also making her mark as a musician; she recently scored a hit with her song, "Drivers License." However, her journey to getting a driver's license took quite a few tries.

...

It tells the story of Rodrigo driving in the suburbs to someone's house only to not find the person there. The lyrics have her speculating about that person possibly being with "that blonde girl." Listeners have speculated that the song might be about her HSMTMTS co-star Joshua Bassett and fellow Disney singer Sabrina Carpenter. However, Rodrigo has not confirmed these rumors .

Meanwhile, "Drivers License" has proven itself to be a big hit. It shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently in its eighth week at the top spot.

As the song says, Rodrigo did get her driver's license . However, it took her four tries to finally accomplish the task.

"The first appointment I got, I had to cancel it because of COVID," she told PopCrush . "The second appointment I got, I had to cancel it because of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series , which is the show that I'm on, and I was filming and I couldn't make it."

Rodrigo revealed that, for her third attempt, she finally was able to fly to California from Utah, where HSMTMTS is filmed. However, a problem came up before she could even commence the test.

"I'm sitting in the car, and the guy comes by and he's checking [the car]," Rodrigo recalled. "He's like, 'OK, honk your horn now.'"

When Rodrigo did just that, she realized that the car she was using—her mom's—had a horn that was not working. Rodrigo explained, "She had no idea that the horn didn't work on her car because she never uses her horn because she's like the calmest person in the whole world."

Olivia Rodrigo: 'I Don't Know' Sabrina Carpenter Amid Drama

When asked whether the Bizaardvark alum would write a rebuttal song to Carpenter's alleged clapback track, "Skin," Rodrigo denied that any of her music was about the Girl Meets World alum, 21, and Bassett , 20.

"I don't think I could write a song that was meaningful or emotional about somebody that I don't know," she said. "I think artists should be able to write about whatever they want to write about."

Rodrigo made headlines in January when fans speculated that she wrote "Drivers License" about Bassett, whom she stars alongside on Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical – The Series , and is rumored to have dated.

In the chart-topper, Rodrigo sings, " And you're probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt / She's so much older than me / She's everything I'm insecure about," which some thought described Carpenter.

Bassett and the Work It actress have since released songs of their own, which some fans thought included lyrics dissing the Temecula, California, native .

"You can try / To get under my, under my, under my skin / While he's on mine / Yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin / I wish you knew that еven you / Can't get under my skin if I don't let you in," the Adventures in Babysitting actress sings in her January release, "Skin."

Carpenter claimed that her track "isn't calling out one single person" via an Instagram post the same month.

Bassett, for his part, dropped "Only a Matter of Time" on January 28, revealing he wrote it during the summer of 2020, which is when his alleged feud with Rodrigo began.

As Rodrigo has continued to gain praise from celebrity fans, including Taylor Swift , for her song, Bassett revealed he hopes the drama associated with his costar doesn't stop fans from supporting his and Carpenter's upcoming duet.

Joshua Bassett Shuts Down Olivia Rodrigo Drama

The pair, who both star in Disney's High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and were rumored to be dating, encountered split reports last August after Olivia posted a picture wearing a "dump him" T-shirt at the same time Joshua was pictured on an apparent lunch date with Sabrina.

In the lyrics of the emotionally charged song, Olivia appears to subtly reference Joshua and their relationship. It was also assumed that she referenced Sabrina when she said: "And you're probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt / She's so much older than me / She's everything I'm insecure about."

Things got even more interesting when it was revealed that the lyric had been changed from its original wording, which described a brunette girl instead.

"...I hope people don't forget the value that her and Sabrina bring to the world outside of the drama and I hope people will look at the depth of who they are instead of just the surface level gossip." — Joshua on fan theories about his respond to Olivia's song. (via ET Canada)

"But I would say I hope people don't forget the value that [Olivia] and Sabrina bring to the world outside of the drama," he went on, "And I hope people will look at the depth of who they are instead of just the surface-level gossip."

He added: "It's all over the place, but it's kinda come together and it's kinda become this storyline, which is pretty cool."

Joshua Bassett is asked to choose between "drivers license" and "Skin" in an interview with @PopBuzz.

There was some confusion online as the clip was taken out of context and therefore looked like Joshua was picking his favorite song. However, for the interview, he was asked to pick a category — "Drivers License" or "Skin" — and then answer a question based on his choice.

After contemplating for a few seconds, and seemingly about to pick the latter, Joshua eventually went for "Drivers License" and was therefore asked a question about driving.

Olivia Rodrigo and Morgan Wallen Dominate the Charts After Eight Weeks - The New York Times

In late 1966, Elektra Records signed a new band called the Doors, and the label had a feeling its debut was special. To prevent the album from getting lost in the crowded fourth-quarter market, Elektra released it at the start of the next year , when it faced scant competition. "The Doors" became a sensation, eventually reaching No. 2 on the Billboard chart.

The strategy of rolling out a hot album in the January doldrums proved lucrative once again this year with "Dangerous: The Double Album" by Morgan Wallen, a country singer-songwriter who rode a lot of buzz to an instant No. 1 .

But the charts have rarely been as static as they have been this year, as big stars have largely held off releasing new material. That helped Wallen hold at No. 1 for eight weeks now — even as he came under fire last month for using a racial slur — and also given an advantage to Olivia Rodrigo, an 18-year-old singer and actress, who has now dominated the singles chart for eight weeks with her song " Drivers License ."

"Dangerous," which has held strong streaming numbers since it was released, had the equivalent of 82,000 sales in the United States last week, including 103 million streams and 6,000 copies sold as a complete package, according to MRC Data, Billboard's tracking arm. With few major challengers, "Dangerous" may hold at No. 1 for a ninth week, although competition is coming from Justin Bieber and Drake.

"Drivers License," which had nearly 20 million streams last week, may not hold the top spot much longer, after the long-awaited release of three new Drake songs on " Scary Hours 2 ."

The rest of this week's album chart is dominated by other recent hits, most of which have hovered in the Top 10 for weeks if not months: The Weeknd's hits compilation "The Highlights" (No. 2), Pop Smoke's "Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon" (No. 3), Pooh Shiesty's "Shiesty Season" (No. 4) and Lil Durk's "The Voice" (No. 5).
