Take-Two's CEO reckons we're "ready" for $70 video games • Eurogamer.net
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed he thinks gamers are "ready" for $70/£65 video games.
Talking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference this week and transcribed by our friends at VGC , Zelnick was asked to expand on why the publisher had decided to add $10 to the price of NBA 2K21.
The first publisher to confirm a price hike for next-gen video games, Zelnick said the decision came because the game offered "an array of extraordinary experiences" and the last frontline price increase in the US was fifteen years ago.
How Lucasfilm Can Make New Star Wars Video Games Better
Even following the debut of Lucasfilm Games , Lucasfilm's rebranded gaming branch, Star Wars video games will be a difficult piece of the canon to master, especially after the criticisms of EA's handling of the license. Lucasfilm Games' announcement signaled a promising renewal of internal focus on Star Wars gaming, but it's not easy satisfying every fan of a franchise that's lasted for so long.
That's not to say there haven't been successes in the last few years. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order proved Respawn Entertainment could give fans a great story with addictive gameplay, beautiful graphics, and characters worth following. Even Star Wars: Squadrons , despite being a smaller release, reminded fans of games like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron , a fan-favorite to this day.
'Last of Us 2' reveals why the worst trope in video games needs to die in 2021
Lesbian representation in video games has increased in recent years. While that's a welcome shift for LGBTQIA+ gamers , the way relationships between women are often portrayed in the medium still leaves a lot to be desired.
Julian, who works in games PR and requested to use a pseudonym to share candid criticism of the space, says this harmful trope continues to pop up across games, movies, and TV.
"Lesbian couples in media are doomed to the point that when one of them doesn't die it feels like an LGBT milestone," Julian tells Inverse. "That should change, no question."

Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith busts out Stockton-Malone video game shirt for All-Star Game - Deseret
After LeBron James took a shot at the Utah Jazz earlier this week, new team owner Ryan Smith had a seemingly not-so-subtle response ahead of the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
On Thursday, after Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were the last two players picked in the All-Star draft by James and Kevin Durant, James said, "There's no slander to the Utah Jazz. In video games growing up we never played with Utah. Even as great as Karl Malone and John Stockton was we would have never picked those guys in video games, never."
From Star Wars to Marvel to James Bond, licensed video games are surging. Here's why.
The upcoming Ubisoft Star Wars game can be traced back to a lunch. In a shaded courtyard at a Disney campus in Glendale, California, Disney Senior Vice President Sean Shoptaw and Ubisoft Massive managing director David Polfeldt brainstormed as they ate. The two had met the day before following Disney's acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox, and they were feeling inspired.
The chat over lunch went well — so well, in fact, it would cement the foundation of a new partnership. Disney would soon visit Ubisoft Massive in Sweden, and Ubisoft Massive would then be invited to Lucasfilm's Bay Area studios to formalize a pitch.

The Cat's Cradle: 'Alien' is an undying franchise - The Post
The Alien franchise has its own share of duds. Particularly films like Alien Resurrection and Alien Covenant being the most abhorrent entries. Considering this, there is still a lot for Horror and Sci-fi fans alike to love in the Alien franchise, beginning with the original Alien film.
Released in 1979 with a small team of up-and-coming creators like Sigourney Weaver, Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon. Following a crew of space-truckers who are hulling back a large mineral deposit, they are redirected to a lone asteroid where an alien signal is coming from. Adapting elements of slasher films and cosmic horror, Alien remains terrifying 40-plus years after its original release.
